Summary of Job Duties:

The Advanced Practice Nurse will assist with clinic, organizing visits and performing clinic procedures. Primarily assessing patients in a clinic setting, triaging for PT and interventional pain as well as preparing them to see a surgeon visit as needed. Potentially could assist in the operating room, answer pages and round on post-operative patients on a daily and PRN basis. The APP will be responsible for managing care of outpatients post-operatively, answering telephone inquiries and filling prescriptions. Urgent Care clinic coverage with opportunities for after hours care coverage. APP must have a high level of expertise to perform assessments/diagnosis/treatment of actual/potential problems of patients.

  • Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform physical examinations.
  • Diagnose and develop individualized treatment plans for orthopedic conditions and injuries.
  • Order, review, and interpret diagnostic studies such as X-rays, MRI, CT scans, and laboratory tests.
  • Prescribe medications and other treatments within established scope of practice.
  • Perform or assist with office-based procedures, injections, wound care, and other orthopedic interventions as appropriate.
  • Manage preoperative and postoperative orthopedic patients, including monitoring recovery and addressing complications.
  • Provide follow-up care and evaluate patients' progress throughout treatment.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, rehabilitation, and preventive care.
  • Coordinate care with orthopedic surgeons, physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Make appropriate referrals and consultations when additional specialty care is needed.
  • Document assessments, treatment plans, procedures, and patient outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Respond to patient questions and clinical concerns through office visits, telephone communication, and electronic messaging.
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, professional standards, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
