Job Description Summary:Position Responsibilities- Procures service and serves as an advocate on behalf of patients, families and the hospital for scarce resources throughout the continuum of care. Facilitates and provides necessary patient and family education.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of ICU patient groin management.
- Interviews patients and completes a full comprehensive medical history and physical examination.
- Actively participates in department's performance and improvement program. Provides feedback to unit director on an ongoing basis, i.e. concern, improvements, changes, etc.
- Reviews and ensures intensive care patient medication orders are placed and given during the patients stay in the hospital.
- Monitors ICU patient post procedure during the patients stay in the hospital.
- Monitor component that may lead to bleeding complications (loss of pulse, hypertension BP, drop in H/H, platelets and evaluate patient alertness AAAx3)
- Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests (U/S and CT and lab work) to rule out complications. Reports results to intensivists for further evaluation.
- Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic medications if required and notifies interventionalists.
- Secures on patient discharge that all prescription are filled
- Attends and actively participates in departmental meetings to educate our receiving floors, in-service programs, provides positive suggestions and input.
- Monitors and collects monthly complication report on ICU patients. All complications to be discussed and reviewed with medical director and panel to address an action plan for future prevention.
- Report ICU patuients complications to Performance Improvement (PI) on a quarterly basis.
- Promotes surveillance, prevention, and control of infection by using and teaching hygienic practices.
Qualifications- License/Registration/Certification
- State of Florida Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License; ACLS Certification; CPR certification required.
- Education
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Master of Science in Nursing.
- Experience
- At least 1 year experience as an APRN preferred
