This is a 100% Limited position for 1 year. This appointment may be extended or converted to career status based on the needs of the department. DESCRIPTIONApplies professional programming concepts for small to medium-sized projects or portions of larger projects. Resolves a variety of programming design and implementation issues. Works on programming assignments of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Principal assignments will be to an education related AI project and making general programming contributions to business and education related support applications in the School of Biological Sciences.
The incumbent will develop and support diverse applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, and/or Java, focusing on TypeScript/Java API backends and Angular-based frontends. Responsibilities span the full development lifecycle, from gathering business requirements and mapping user stories to designing intuitive UI/UX specifications in alignment with departmental design systems and standards. The main project involves front end and API work for an AI project; other projects aim to automate and streamline administrative processes across the school, requiring a blend of technical execution and functional problem-solving.
QUALIFICATIONS- Knowledge of secure software development.
- Intermediate skills associated with the design, development, modification and deployment of software, including object-oriented programming concepts.
- Knowledge of other IT related areas.
- Demonstrated software repository skills.
- Experience with common programming tools.
- Demonstrated ability to follow software specifications.
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
- Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript, Typescript and related technologies used in modern web based front end development.
- Willingness and demonstrated ability to embrace and consistently uphold the principles of community for a collaborative work environment.
- Knowledge relating to the design development, modification and implementation of software including object-oriented programming concepts.
- Demonstrated experience with version control.
