POSITION:                            Applications Engineer II

DIVISION:                             Metrology and Analysis Systems Division (MAD)

COMPANY:                          Hitachi High-Tech America, Inc. (7TA8)

LOCATION:                          Hillsboro, OR

TRAVEL:                               Up to 30%

REMOTE WORK:                 Hybrid (+50% Onsite) - Onsite 80% / Remote 20%

EXPECTED PAY RANGE:   $110,089 - $151,373 annually

This pay range is for the positions base pay only.  This position may be eligible for other compensation including incentive pay and/or allowances.  Candidates will receive additional information during the interview and selection process.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Applications Engineer II (AE) is responsible for the technical product support for all defect metrology or analysis systems sales activities.  The AE will conduct demonstrations, develop applications, and provide defect metrology or analysis systems training to customers.  AEs will provide customer application training in order to complete tool installation and acceptance tests.   AEs use considerable judgment and initiative independently.  AEs are expected to work on special projects to improve overall department efficiency.  AEs will provide applications support through classroom training, phone support, and through direct work performed at customer facilities.  Generally, the AE requires minimal supervision and has knowledge across multiple product lines.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technical product support for all defect metrology and/or analysis systems sales activities
  • Provide applications support for customers through recipe automation audits
  • Support installs or setup equipment at sales shows
  • Develop training and demonstration materials
  • Maintain appropriate records of all work performed and training activities
  • Manage and maintain traveling inventory according to department policy and procedure
  • Set and keep appropriate schedules for training on the assigned customer site
  • Provide highly detailed documentation for the purpose of customer and/or Field Service Engineer training
  • Comply and adhere to company policies
  • Portray professionalism and pride in appearance while conforming to policy
  • Exhibit a positive attitude to all employees and customers
  • Protect and maintain company property (i.e., traveling inventory, company care, test equipment, tools, etc.)
  • Willingness to relocate and travel
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, LICENSES, and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • AS degree in electronics or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • BS degrees in Electronics Engineering is a plus
  • Must have and retain valid drivers license in resident state 
  • Must have the ability to be insured by our car insurance company
  • Must be eligible for and receive company credit card

EXPERIENCE and TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Two (2) years relevant engineering work experience
  • Strong work ethic (i.e., punctual, timely, prepared, collaborative, effective, etc.)
  • Experience using Microsoft Suite with focus on Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience using UNIX is a plus
  • Travel up to 30% (international and domestic)

  • Ability to effectively communicate information to customers and manager regarding all activities and schedules
  • Basic Knowledge and understanding of Physics and Chemistry
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with management, co-workers, internal and external customers

  • Ability to work on assignments that are complex utilizing considerable judgement and initiative
  • Ability to effectively interface with customers, service department personnel and others
  • Equipment-specific operation skills 
  • Understanding of equipment Electronics
  • Ability to work independently with no supervision

  • Ability to use considerable judgement in resolving problems and making recommendations
  • Training:
    • Ability to assist other Field Service Engineers with problems they encounter in the field
    • Ability to transfer technical knowledge to less experienced engineers through on-the-job training (OJT) or classroom training
    • Ability to give training classes or OJT on complex system theory to both Field Service Engineers and customers
    • Ability to give and receive advanced customer training
    • Complete special training classes
  • Safety:
    • Comply with injury reporting requirements
    • Comply with all corporate safety requirements and directives
    • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required
    • Follow all equipment-specific safety protocols
