Role Purpose

The purpose of this position is to support the growth of Corning's Packaging and Wafer business through alignment of customer technical requirements with internal capabilities while working closely with the account manager and other commercial functions. This includes supporting the execution of new business development initiatives and product line plan with operations, development, engineering, sales, and marketing organizations. The Applications Engineer also supplies the voice of the customer to the technology and development teams for new product and capability developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical engineering expertise, in a commercial role, to key accounts of the semiconductor industry to support existing products as well as design-in qualification processes
  • Understand key technology trends, engage with key customers in the region and build relationship with the technical community
  • Establish the interface required for existing and new growth opportunities within the customer's and Corning cross functional teams (materials manufacturing, finishing, coating, etc.); project and account managers; RD&E; and international sales office representatives
  • Prepare and provide technical presentations and responses as required. Connect technical properties and requirements to customer applications to analyze customer trends, new opportunities and recommend course of actions to enhance Corning's position
  • Identify new growth opportunities for existing and emerging applications and maximize profitability by understanding the value proposition, analyzing market segments, reviewing the competitive landscape, conducting product analysis, and supporting the development of tactical plans and strategies
  • Work closely with regional business development/sales manager as well as program manager and subject matter experts to support on all technical engagements with new and existing customers


Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor's degree in technical field, Engineering degrees preferred.
  • Advanced degree preferred. Degree in Glass technology, materials science, optics, semiconductor applications preferred
  • Glass applications and/or device processing experience in the semiconductor industry preferred
  • 2+ years in account management, applications engineering, or engineering role closely supporting customers or new product development
  • Direct experience in taking early-stage product through qualification and design-in process

The range for this position is $96,254.00 - $132,349.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
