Full Job Description
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, or designee, this is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join the Kahr Bearing Engineering team responsible for design, development, and testing of new and existing products and supporting manufacturing. This position will work directly with our customers and sales team and collaborate with all areas of the organization, including engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and sales, to provide solutions to the customers' design challenges.

Responsibilities:
  • Work directly with customers to satisfy their application needs. Support our external sales and business management personnel by making visits to customers to promote our capabilities.
  • Create new relationships with customers to expand business and build portfolio for all of RBC as well as Kahr Bearing.
  • Identify market needs and establish new business opportunities with customers
  • Convert customer requirements into bearing designs.
  • Derive application loading, cycles, and other operating conditions relevant to the bearing application. Based on these inputs, select or alter existing bearing designs to meet customer requirements
  • Educate customers and non-technical associates on bearing best practices
  • Develop customer proposals, work with sales to present product offerings to customers
  • Review and revise designs for completeness and proper application of engineering principles
  • Responsible for the quality and delivery of engineering design documentation to meet customer needs while supporting business objectives and schedules
  • Perform engineering analysis (stress, FEA, fatigue) and apply problem-solving methods to support new product development and/or sustain the production of existing designs
  • Direct designers and drafters in design concepts and optimization
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
  • Write test plans and test reports in support of new programs
  • Manage qualification test programs
  • Develop pathfinder production procedures and methods for new products
  • Participate in understanding, implementing, and maintaining the Company Quality Policy in accordance with AS-9100D and/or ISO-9001:2015 requirements
  • Drive technical excellence and continuous improvement in design processes and techniques
  • Lead continual improvement initiatives
  • Evaluate manufacturing issues and determine and direct path forward
  • Complete Root Cause Analysis and improvements to parts and processes
  • Travel approximately 25%

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering curriculum with 6+ years full-time prior relevant engineering experience OR Associates degree in Engineering curriculum or related technical field with 8+ years prior relevant engineering experience
  • Technical/engineering experience with emphasis on component design layout and modeling, detail design, and analysis
  • Each 3 consecutive years of military service where the primary job function was maintenance and/or flight line operations that included the direct responsibility of maintaining aircraft and aircraft systems may be substituted for 1 year relevant engineering experience as required above
  • Must be a US Person
  • Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Engineering degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Understanding of the importance of customer relationships and ability to develop them
  • Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Understanding of bearing design principles and usages
  • Ability to investigate, diagnose and resolve complex technical problems and communicate in clear, simple terms
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration between Operations, Sales, Supply Chain, Quality, and Engineering
  • Project management experience
  • Understanding of metal forming and manufacturing methods of bearings
  • Ability to effectively balance technical design maturity and manufacturing capability
  • Knowledge of the following analyses and methods: stress and fatigue, FEA, weight, vibration, thermal, corrosion control, FMEA, FMECA, wear analysis, and material and process controls
  • Understanding of platings, coatings, and other metal finishes and applicability in bearings
  • Experience with low friction composites
  • 3D modeling and drawing creation with Creo or equivalent software
  • MathCAD software familiarity
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5M GD&T standard and familiarity with engineering drawings
  • Working knowledge of root cause and corrective action
  • Knowledge in risk identification and assessment
  • Understanding of quality systems, configuration management systems, and data management systems
  • Knowledge of program management tools and project planning
  • Proven decision making skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
