Application Software Engineer, Senior located Kettering, OH (Dayton/WPAFB area) to support our EPASS GB contract. As part of the AFLCMC/GB Business and Enterprise Systems Directorate (BES), FLITES is a new system within the AF to manage Item Master data. The FLITES will provide comprehensive Item Catalog and Provisioning functions for the Logistics business systems, and will replace the Item Management Control System (IMCS) suite of legacy systems, at a minimum. FLITES will be the central repository for the Item core business objects, providing standardization of Item cataloging processes, structure, attributes, propagation, and standardized views for all applicable Item types. Additionally, FLITES will receive product structure input from an engineering Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) type system. Foundational Logistics Information Technology Enterprise System (FLITES) is the Item data as a core underlying need for each Capability Initiative (CI), and as such will integrate with many logistics enterprise systems. The Air Force wants to rapidly modernize its enterprise logistics systems, most of which require Item data. The new FLITES will provide essential functionality of the legacy IMCS more efficiently and effectively in addition to implementing new functionality as described below. Without this support to the Program Management Office (PMO) under GBS, the Government would not be able to complete the required documentation, reporting, and program management support required for a Business Acquisition Category (BCAT) II program. This system will have high visibility following the 5000.75 process.
As an
ApplicationSoftware Engineer, Senior your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Advise and support work that involves the design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation, and support of new or existing applications software. The functions required to be performed in this specialty may include:
- Following/leading an Agile methodology, e.g., scrum, Kanban, XP, and hybrid;
- Analyzing and refining systems requirements;
- Translating systems requirements into applications prototypes;
- Planning and designing systems architecture;
- Determining and designing applications architecture;
- Determining output media/formats;
- Designing user, systems(s) interfaces;
- Working with customers to test applications;
- Assuring software and systems quality and functionality;
- Integrating hardware and software components;
- Writing, reviewing, and maintaining program documentation;
- Evaluating new applications software technologies such as containerization and the use of Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, configuration as code, microservices, standard application program interfaces (API), continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), and maximizing the automation of the software development lifecycle (SDLC); or,
- Ensuring the rigorous application of information security/cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices to the delivery of application software services
Job Requirements:- U.S. Citizen
- Advanced Degree (MA/MS) or Doctorate from an ABET accredited program in Computer Science, Information Technology or other Engineering Discipline and 10 years of experience, 5 of which must be in the DoW, OR
- BA/BS Degree from an ABET accredited program in Computer Science, Information Technology or other Engineering Discipline and 12 years of experience in the respectivetechnical/professionaldiscipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoW, OR
- 15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications, 8 of which must be in the DoW.
- Possesses the advanced knowledge, experience and recognized ability to be considered an expert in their technical/professional field, possess the ability to perform tasks and oversee the efforts of junior and mid-level personnel within the technical/professional discipline
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of their technical/professional discipline as well as possess a comprehensive understanding and ability to apply associated standards, procedures and practices in their area of expertise. (Program Office, Enterprise and Staff Level Support interface)
- Must have and maintain a T1/NACI security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:- Knowledge and experience with Agile principles, methodologies, and enabling technologies, e.g., Kanban, Scrum, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitLab, CheckMarx, SonarQube, Zephyr.
- Cloud platforms, e.g., AWS, Azure, OCI.
- General cloud technologies, e.g., elasticity, scalability, IaC, IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, on-demand instantiation, containers, Kubernetes, serverless/Lambda
- Any or all of the following certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Cloud Practitioner or MS Azure equivalent, Current certification in Oracle/OCI products and/or databases, CompTIA Security +CE, Agile Certifications
