Summary of Essential Functions

The Senior Interface Analyst provides application and integration system support and is responsible for collaborating with business, clinical, operational, and technical personnel to identify, analyze, prioritize, develop, test, monitor, and resolve system and interface needs.

This position serves as a technical resource for healthcare application integration, Epic Bridges, Corepoint interface engine support, HL7 messaging, data flow analysis, interface development, interface monitoring, and ongoing maintenance of clinical and business system integrations.

The Senior Interface Analyst will evaluate use cases, workflows, message specifications, error trends, and operational metrics to configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize interfaces and related application workflows. This individual will provide recommendations for interface modifications, system enhancements, integration improvements, or business process changes as appropriate.

This position requires extensive knowledge of operational processes and workflows common in the healthcare setting, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, and advanced computer and technical skills. The individual must have broad knowledge of application integration, healthcare data exchange, interface engine functionality, EMR data flow, and support of EMR, healthcare, and/or business applications.
Educational Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.

University degree in Healthcare, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or related subject preferred, but not required. Relevant work experience may be considered as a substitute for degree.

Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Licensure and Certifications

Must obtain and keep current all certifications required to support assigned applications and integration tools.

Epic Bridges certification is required within an established timeframe

Corepoint, HL7, Epic, or other healthcare integration-related training or certification preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Experience in a healthcare, business, operational, technical, systems analysis, or application support setting.

Knowledge and skills necessary to provide comprehensive support for healthcare systems, applications, interfaces, and integration workflows.

Extensive knowledge of healthcare operations, regulatory requirements, and the application of information technology to support and improve healthcare functions.

Strong understanding of healthcare interface concepts, including HL7 message structure, ADT, orders, results, charges, scheduling, documents, and other common clinical and business transaction types.

Experience supporting, troubleshooting, building, or maintaining interfaces using Epic Bridges and an interface engine such as Corepoint.

Knowledge of HL7 standards and message types, including segments, fields, components, trigger events, acknowledgements, message routing, filtering, translation, and error handling.

Ability to analyze interface errors, message failures, data discrepancies, and system-to-system communication issues across multiple applications.

Ability to read and interpret interface specifications, message logs, mapping documentation, error queues, workflow documentation, and technical design documents.

Familiarity with integration protocols and concepts such as TCP/IP, MLLP, SFTP, APIs, web services, file transfers, batch processing, and secure data exchange preferred.

Ability to participate in interface development activities, including requirements gathering, technical analysis, design, build, unit testing, integrated testing, validation, go-live support, and post-live monitoring.

Skilled in communicating positively and effectively with end users, application analysts, interface analysts, vendors, technical teams, management, and customers.

Experience managing projects with proven ability to lead meetings, prioritize work, resolve conflicts, maintain issue lists, document decisions, and manage a project plan to completion.

Demonstrates exceptional ability to research, analyze, and thoroughly understand workflows of end users and technical data flows, and use this knowledge to configure, support, and improve systems and interfaces.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, interfaces, and support issues.

Ability to work independently, use critical thinking, and resolve complex issues with limited guidance.

Demonstrates initiative, creativity, flexibility, and accountability in problem resolution.
Physical Requirements

Primarily works the day shift tour of duty; may be asked to work additional hours as needed, including weekends.

Will be required to take rotating call to support applications, interfaces, and integration-related issues.

May be expected to lift over twenty-five (25) pounds.

Ability to distinguish between numbers and symbols.

Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity with substantial movement of wrist and/or fingers.

Walking and climbing to accomplish tasks.

Corrected vision and hearing to normal or near normal range.

Duties and Responsibilities

Builds, tests, debugs, monitors, and supports healthcare interfaces and applications to ensure systems meet business, clinical, operational, and technical requirements.

Provides support for Epic Bridges, Corepoint interface engine, HL7 messaging, and other integration tools used to exchange data between Epic, ancillary systems, third-party vendors, and business applications.

Supports the full interface and system development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, technical design, build, unit testing, integrated testing, validation, deployment, go-live support, and post-implementation support.

Analyzes HL7 messages, interface logs, acknowledgements, error queues, routing logic, translations, and message failures to identify and resolve interface issues.

Develops, maintains, and supports interface specifications, mapping documentation, data flow diagrams, operational process flows, technical design documents, testing scripts, and other required documentation for approved system enhancements or modifications.

Provides technical expertise to identify, analyze, prioritize, and resolve system and interface needs.

Uses use cases, workflows, message data, error trends, and operational metrics to configure, maintain, monitor, and optimize system and interface use.

Provides recommendations for interface modifications, application enhancements, data flow improvements, monitoring improvements, or business process changes as appropriate.

Advises business, clinical, operational, vendor, and technical counterparts regarding current system and interface functionality, limitations, dependencies, and recommended solutions.

Collaborates with application teams, infrastructure teams, vendors, operational leaders, and key stakeholders to support system integrations, interface implementations, upgrades, conversions, and ongoing maintenance.

Troubleshoots complex application and interface issues involving multiple systems, including Epic modules, ancillary applications, external vendors, and interface engine components.

Monitors interface performance, message flow, error queues, system alerts, and integration failures to ensure timely identification and resolution of issues.

Participates in interface testing activities, including test plan creation, test message validation, integrated testing, regression testing, volume testing, downtime testing, and go-live readiness validation.

Supports Epic upgrades, application upgrades, vendor upgrades, interface engine upgrades, and system changes by assessing interface impact, completing required build or mapping updates, and validating message flow.

Adheres to organizational policies and procedures and documents change control, system issues, interface issues, build changes, testing results, and support activities according to departmental procedures.

Able to lead multiple concurrent projects, support multiple applications or interfaces, and manage user and stakeholder expectations.

Serves as a mentor and technical resource to other analysts, educates and coaches team members, and assists with knowledge transfer related to interface support, troubleshooting, and development.

Manages projects to completion according to department standards with little or no guidance.

Collaborates with operational leaders, user groups, vendors, and key stakeholders to review and prioritize system enhancements, interface changes, upgrade work, and integration requests.

Collaborates with technical resources on projects and systems maintenance to ensure the needs of the business are met.

Produces and provides analysis through reports, dashboards, interface monitoring tools, error tracking, and analytic tools to management as needed.

Identifies and resolves complex issues involving application functionality, interface logic, data mapping, workflow dependencies, and system integration.

Works to achieve goals and meet departmental and organizational KPIs.

Works independently and uses critical thinking skills to develop and support clinical, business, and integration software applications.
