Job Summary

Information and Technology Services (ITS) is looking for an Application Developer Senior to join the Infrastructure Information Systems team

You will provide creativity and strategy to develop web applications, web services (APIs) and web service standards. You will help build multiple content areas (business domains), systems: functionally separate software applications. Your additional responsibility will include hardware/OS/browser infrastructure that the application runs on and multiple technologies: software languages, libraries/integrations. You will contribute to service enhancement projects, including taking projects from request through implementation and release. You will report to the Information Systems Manager.

Responsibilities*

Service Improvement / Solution Architecture

You will contribute to service enhancement projects by identifying and quantifying customer requirements, delineating the gaps between customer requirements and the capabilities of existing technology and resources, and recommending improvements. Work with stakeholders to review modification requests, determine programming needs and write code solutions that balance requirements with the risk, maintainability, and overall cost benefit analysis. Study and develop a comprehensive understanding of assigned products, determines logic for solutions depending on platform, business rules with multiple dependencies, integrations, and variables. You will follow established standards, methodology, and development tools while translating requirements into a technical design. You will conduct/support analysis, then deploy solutions. Develop new and revise existing coding standards and documents for new technology.

Production Support

Provide daily operations and tier 2 support for applications. Coordinate with team members and service support groups to resolve incidents, requests, fixes, and enhancements. Example of assignment are development, batch processing and scheduling, installation, configuration, customization, troubleshooting, upgrades, integration, and maintenance of systems. Monitor applications and other systems for availability, error conditions, performance, and otherwise ensures services are operational.

Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education, certification and experience
  • Minimum of four years demonstrated experience in a related role requiring confidentiality, customer service, organization, prioritization, and troubleshooting to install, configure and support web application development
  • Development experience with Python, Java, Javascript, .net, PHP, or other web application frameworks
  • Knowledge of systems development methodologies (including waterfall and iterative approaches), process improvement, and data analysis
  • Proficiency with one or more structured programming languages and with reporting tools
  • Proficiency with one or more object-oriented programming languages and the concepts of web services development
  • Experience designing, developing, and documenting robust, in-depth APIs to support scalable application integrations
  • Experience with user interface design and knowledge of usability best practices
  • Experience developing web services and other types of integrations, and resolving integration issues involving multiple technologies and departments. Knowledge of best practices and infrastructure for web services
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with our customers in a manner that consistently meets our expectations for exemplary customer service
