The ideal candidate combines strong technical architecture expertise with hands-on metadata governance experience and can work effectively with business stakeholders, analysts, ETL developers, DBAs, and project leadership.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring trusted, well-documented, scalable, and compliant data assets that support operational reporting, analytics, regulatory reporting, and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Data Architecture & Modeling
  • Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for the Medicaid EDW.
  • Define architecture standards for ODS, integration, dimensional, and reporting layers.
  • Lead source system onboarding into the EDW, including claims, eligibility, provider, encounters, finance, and other Medicaid domains.
  • Review new initiatives for data impacts, scalability, integration patterns, and downstream reporting implications.
  • Recommend improvements to warehouse performance, data structures, and overall platform architecture.

Metadata Management / Dataedo Administration
  • Administer and enhance the enterprise Dataedo platform.
  • Maintain data dictionaries, table/column definitions, business glossary, lineage, and stewardship assignments.
  • Build and govern source-to-target mapping documentation.
  • Ensure metadata standards are followed across projects and support teams.
  • Publish user-friendly documentation portals for business and technical users.

Data Governance & Lineage
  • Establish governance processes for definitions, ownership, approvals, and change management.
  • Maintain end-to-end lineage from source systems through ETL pipelines to reporting assets.
  • Support impact analysis for schema changes, source changes, and reporting requests.
  • Partner with data owners and SMEs to standardize KPI and metric definitions.

Medicaid / Regulatory Support
  • Support reporting and traceability requirements for Medicaid operations and regulatory reporting.
  • Help ensure data assets meet privacy, security, and compliance requirements including HIPAA.
  • Assist with audit requests requiring data lineage, documentation, and control evidence.

Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Partner with ETL developers, BI teams, analysts, QA teams, DBAs, and business stakeholders.
  • Mentor technical staff on modeling standards, documentation expectations, and governance practices.
  • Participate in roadmap planning, release planning, and architecture reviews.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in data warehousing / enterprise data management.
  • 5+ years in a Data Architect, Senior Data Modeler, or similar leadership role.
  • Hands-on experience with metadata management tools, preferably Dataedo.
  • Strong experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar.
  • Strong SQL skills.
  • Experience designing enterprise data models, dimensional models, and integration layers.
  • Experience documenting lineage and source-to-target mappings.
  • Experience working in regulated environments requiring strong controls and documentation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Medicaid, healthcare, MMIS/MES, payer, or public sector data environments.
  • Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, SSIS, IICS, Talend, or similar.
  • Experience with BI/reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, or Business Objects.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, or Google Cloud.
