Lead Programs That Improve Patient Outcomes and Advance Responsible Antibiotic Use

We are seeking an experienced Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacy Specialist to join our Pharmacy team. In this role, you will provide clinical leadership for antimicrobial stewardship initiatives across the health system, helping ensure the safe, effective, and appropriate use of antimicrobial therapies.

As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with physicians, infectious disease specialists, infection prevention professionals, nursing leaders, and pharmacists to develop strategies that improve patient outcomes, reduce antimicrobial resistance, and promote evidence-based prescribing practices.
What You'll Do
  • Lead and support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives across the health system
  • Monitor antimicrobial utilization and recommend interventions that promote appropriate antibiotic use
  • Develop, implement, and maintain antimicrobial stewardship programs based on national guidelines and best practices
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary stewardship activities and ensure alignment with organizational goals
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of antimicrobial formularies, treatment guidelines, and clinical protocols
  • Analyze antimicrobial utilization data, resistance patterns, outcomes, and performance metrics
  • Develop strategies to optimize prophylactic, empiric, and definitive antimicrobial therapy
  • Collaborate with physicians, infection prevention teams, nursing leaders, and pharmacy staff to improve antimicrobial management
  • Educate pharmacists, physicians, residents, and other healthcare professionals on antimicrobial stewardship principles and best practices
  • Create and maintain competency-based education and training programs related to antimicrobial stewardship
  • Prepare reports and presentations demonstrating the impact of stewardship initiatives on quality, safety, and cost of care
  • Ensure compliance with CDC Core Elements of Hospital Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs and applicable regulatory standards
  • Provide advanced clinical pharmacy services, including pharmacotherapy consultations, medication optimization, drug information support, and interdisciplinary rounding
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes and operational performance
  • Precept pharmacy students and residents and support the professional development of pharmacy staff
  • Assist pharmacy leadership with reporting, technology initiatives, budgeting activities, and performance improvement projects
What We're Looking For
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSPharm) from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Licensed or eligible for pharmacist licensure in the applicable state(s) of practice
  • Hospital pharmacy experience required
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY1) or a minimum of five years of relevant clinical pharmacy experience
  • Strong clinical knowledge in infectious diseases, antimicrobial therapies, and evidence-based medication management
  • Ability to evaluate clinical data and develop meaningful improvement strategies
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively influence and educate interdisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and clinical excellence

Preferred:
  • Previous antimicrobial stewardship or infectious diseases experience
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary initiatives or clinical programs
  • Previous supervisory, mentoring, or precepting experience
  • Advanced board certification or specialty credentials
