Northrop Grumman'sDefense Sector is looking for a Anti-Tamper/Program Protection Engineer (Cybersecurity/Anti-Tamper) w/ an Active Clearance to work with our talented Advanced Weapons team located in Northridge, CA.

As an integral part of our multi-discipline engineering team in Advanced Weapons, you will be on the forefront of developing next generation solutions to protect technology for our nation's warfighter. The ideal candidate will be supporting our Advanced Programs for defining and architecting a secured missile weapon system. This position will require close collaboration with team members of other projects within the organization for security architecture designs as well as external partners and customers.

This position requires the selected candidate to work on-site in Northridge; CA on a 9/80 schedule. Telework is not available for this position. Relocation assistance, although not guaranteed, may be available.

In this role, the selected candidate will (but not be limited to):
  • Provide analysis, development, implementation, and security assessments to ensure compliance with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-53, CNSSI 1253, and DoD RMF Knowledge Service guidance
  • Define system architectures resistant to tampering and cyber-attacks
  • Develop technical documentation/publication to document trade studies, system designs, analysis, and results related to systems security
  • Identify Anti-Tamper Critical Program Information (CPI) and writing of Anti-Tamper and Verification & Validation Plans
  • Support Anti-Tamper/Cybersecurity Integration & Test and executing Verification & Validation test events
  • Utilize reverse engineering to architect and validate AT solutions
  • Support security assessments and continuous monitoring
  • Ensure secure software architectures and applications
  • Develop standard and improvement processes for assessing, designing, implementing, and verifying security requirements
  • Support the development of the system security engineering team's training plan for their development in knowledge and skills
  • Interface with inter-organizational management and external customers to communicate technical briefing and program status
  • Support Program Management activities to ensure cost and schedule objectives are met


Basic qualifications for a Anti-Tamper/Program Protection Engineer (T03):
  • B.S. in an engineering/computer science discipline and a minimum of 5 years of engineering, computer science, information systems, or equivalent experience, or M.S. and 3 years
  • Minimum two years of cybersecurity/anti-tamper requirements development, security and cyber threat analysis, security systems engineering, cyber systems architecture development and cybersecurity policy development
  • Must have demonstrated experience in solving technical problems independently with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with requirements development and derivation or validation and verification
  • U.S. Citizenship and active secret DoD clearance is required with the ability to obtain higher Special Access Program (SAP) clearance


Basic qualifications for a Anti-Tamper/Program Protection Engineer (T04):
  • B.S. in an engineering/computer science discipline and a minimum of 8 years of engineering, computer science, information systems, or equivalent experience, or M.S. and 6 years
  • Minimum five years of cybersecurity/anti-tamper requirements development, security and cyber threat analysis, security systems engineering, cyber systems architecture development and cybersecurity policy development
  • Knowledge of DoD based Platforms and Embedded Systems, including but not limited to: RMF, Cryptography and Systems Engineering design and implementation
  • Experience executing Systems Engineering activities (requirements derivation, design, Integration & Test, Verification & Validation)
  • Proven experience in communicating with all levels of peers, management and customers in a methodical, detailed and in a process-oriented fashion
  • Demonstrated experience in solving technical problems independently
  • U.S. Citizenship and active secret DoD clearance is required with the ability to obtain higher Special Access Program (SAP) clearance


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Software or Science
  • Experience working in the defense industry or with weapons, specifically missile systems
  • Experience with Anti-tamper, Reverse Engineering, Hardware Design, Embedded Software or Cryptography
  • Technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and monitoring
  • Experience with proposals and creating basis of estimates (BOEs)
  • Experience contributing to and/or making technical presentations to a lead engineer
  • Develop software assurance plan per guidance in Defense Acquisition Guidebook
  • Compile/Prepare software assurance activities in accordance with Application of Software Assurance Countermeasures, in DASD (SE) PPP Outline and Guidance
  • Identify and mitigate software assurance vulnerabilities and perform integration testing of mitigation/resolution
  • Hardware (Firmware) Assurance, Software Attack Surface Analysis Report, Select Software/Firmware Encryption, and Secure Key Handling


Primary Level Salary Range: $121,400.00 - $182,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $151,100.00 - $226,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
