Full Job Description
Role Overview

We are hiring a Senior Animation Artist to create expressive, high-quality character animation that brings stories and performances to life. In this role, you will own complex animation shots, help establish the quality bar for the project, and collaborate closely with supervisors and cross-functional teams to deliver engaging performances that support the creative vision of the featurette. You will work independently on challenging assignments while providing guidance and support to less experienced artists throughout production.

What You'll Do
  • Collaborate with the Animation Direct, Supervisor and CG Supervisor to translate storyboards, layouts, and creative direction into compelling character performances.
  • Animate a wide range of shots, including complex acting, dialogue, physical action, and emotional performances that align with the project's visual style and storytelling goals.
  • Take ownership of assigned sequences, proactively managing priorities, communicating progress, and identifying potential production risks to ensure work is delivered on schedule.
  • Solve creative and technical animation challenges, partnering with supervisors and technical teams to develop efficient, production-ready solutions.
  • Participate actively in dailies by presenting work, incorporating feedback, and providing thoughtful, constructive feedback to fellow artists.
  • Collaborate closely with Modeling, Rigging, Layout, FX, Lighting, and Production to ensure animation integrates smoothly throughout the production pipeline.
  • Help maintain animation quality and consistency across the project by sharing knowledge, mentoring junior artists, and contributing to best practices and workflow improvements.

  • Demonstrated ability to create strong character performances with excellent timing, weight, spacing, posing, and acting.
  • Experience interpreting storyboards, animatics, and creative direction into polished, production-ready animation.
  • A strong portfolio or demo reel showcasing a range of character animation, including acting, dialogue, and physical performance.
  • Ability to independently manage complex animation assignments while consistently meeting production schedules and quality expectations.
  • Strong understanding of animation principles and the ability to apply them within a collaborative production environment.
  • Experience working within an animation pipeline, participating in reviews, incorporating feedback, and collaborating with supervisors and production teams.

Benefits

Start date: End of July

Pay Range: CAD $1600 - $1800 per week
