Full Job Description
Role Summary:We are seeking an experienced, efficient, and organized manager who is motivated by the ethical care of animals and will manage animal operations at our Farmingdale site. This role involves leading a small avian care team and directly managing all aspects of animal operations at this site, as well as daily hands-on avian care work. We are a fast paced start up, and this role will also involve wearing multiple hats - adaptability is a must.

Key Responsibilities:
Animal Operations: Own all day-to-day animal operations at Neion Bio's Farmingdale, ensuring animals are cared for safely, consistently, and in accordance with approved protocols and company procedures, and that all aspects of operations are clearly and consistently scheduled, tracked, and organized in electronic systems
Electronic Organization: Develop, implement, and optimize online tracking systems, connecting operations in the animal facility to the lab, and uphold detailed electronic records.
Physical Organization: Plan and schedule facility capacity and lead the setup, organization, redesign, and expansion of animal rooms. Establish and ensure that barrier and isolation workflows are followed. Establish a crisis management site plan.
Logistical Support: Provide projections, manage inventories of consumables and contracts with vendors to schedule deliveries, waste pick-up and facility services.
Team Management: Lead, manage, and develop a team of animal care technicians, including scheduling, training, performance management, and allocation of weekly responsibilities.
Aviculture: Work directly alongside the animal care team regularly, including animal handling, egg collection, room setup, cleaning, husbandry support, and operational coverage.
Veterinary Support: Confirm that daily animal welfare checks are performed and engage veterinary medical support to provide preventative and emergency intervention. Train staff, confirm compliance and schedule testing to enforce Neion's biosecurity and biosurveillance programs to protect the integrity of the barrier facility.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in animal science, veterinary technology, biology, poultry science, laboratory animal science, agriculture, or a related field.
• Experience managing or supervising animal care technicians, veterinary technicians, farm staff, or other operational personnel in a related field
• Effective communicator and mentor engaging personnel across a range of roles
• Hands-on experience working in animal operations, laboratory animal facilities, poultry facilities, breeding colonies, research farms, or a comparable regulated animal-care environment.
• Demonstrated ability to own complex daily operations, including scheduling, staffing, recordkeeping, facility organization, and coordination across multiple workstreams.
• Strong working knowledge of animal husbandry, animal handling, welfare monitoring, sanitation, biosecurity and testing, and facility operations.
• Experience building or improving electronic operational systems, schedules, and tracking tools.
• Comfort working in a small, fast-moving organization where leaders are expected to remain hands-on and assist with routine operational work when needed.

Benefits

Compensation: base salary is expected to be $70K-$120K depending on experience, with additional bonus compensation, equity compensation, and benefits including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401(k), and relocation support.
