Summary: Under general supervision, the Anesthesia Technician Manager will be responsible for performing various anesthesia specialized treatment procedures that will significantly affect the accuracy and reliability of further processes associated with the anesthetic course of the patient across the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. This position will also be responsible for the day to day direct management of the Anesthesia Technician staff to include logistical support for the successful delivery of patient services within the Anesthesia Department. The position will support the Anesthesia Department. Responsibilities: Leads and directs anesthesia support during all phases of patient care-induction, maintenance, and emergence-ensuring adherence to clinical standards and patient safety protocols. Serves as the direct report for all Anesthesia Technicians and manages timekeeping, payroll, and HR duties for their staff. Develops and implements daily anesthesia technician assignments to optimize workflow and support licensed anesthesia providers across all clinical sites. Analyzes and prioritizes operating room and ULMC schedules; strategically allocates staffing and resources to maintain full coverage in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with frequent schedule changes. Serves as a mentor and role model, fostering a culture of excellence and driving positive change among anesthesia technicians through leadership and influence. Oversees supply chain management for anesthesia services, including procurement, inventory control, and readiness of anesthesia carts and surgical areas. Partners with Anesthesia Department leadership to ensure staff competency compliance, maintaining rigorous standards for training and certification. Directs onboarding and orientation programs for new staff, manages scheduling, and delivers in-service education on emerging technologies, equipment, and best practices. Establishes accountability for equipment calibration and safety checks, providing education and enforcing compliance to maintain operational integrity. Provides strategic staffing input aligned with patient care needs and budgetary constraints, ensuring optimal resource utilization. Leads hiring initiatives and performance management processes, including recruitment, onboarding, and annual evaluations. Cultivates collaborative relationships across surgical teams, ensuring seamless patient preparation and care coordination. Maintains vendor partnerships to evaluate and integrate new technologies, positioning the department at the forefront of innovation. Executes additional leadership responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and commitment to organizational goals. Other information: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of the English language including the rules of composition and grammar. Knowledge of applicable federal/state laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and other operational guidelines and directives. MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or combination of education and experience. Progressively responsible for professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION Non-supervisory -( 4) years of responsible Anesthesia Technician or Technologist experience. AND Supervisory - Two (2) years of Anesthesia Technician or Technologist supervisory experience. MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION Technologist Certification by American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. PREFERRED EDUCATION QUALIFICATION Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or combination of education and experience. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION Supervisory - 4 years of supervisory experience relevant to the programs being managed or leading to knowledge and skills that will ensure success in this position. PREFERRED CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION N/A ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule. May be called out to work off-shift in emergency situations. Requires regular independent travel between ANMC and ASI. According to the needs of the organization, some incumbents in this job class may be required to obtain specific technical certifications and programming language skills.
