GENERAL OVERVIEW:This job is responsible for performing andrology/endocrinology procedures and providing technical oversight of the andrology and endocrinology lab.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:- Responsible for monitoring test analyses and specimen examination to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained
- Directly supervises testing to assure that procedures are followed and tests are performed accurately
- Develops further professional skills and gains more experience in the andrology/endocrinology laboratory with added duties in supervising andrology/endocrinology procedures according to Allegheny Health Network's Protocol Manuals.
- Must be accessible to testing personnel at all times testing is performed on site, telephone or electronic consultation to resolve technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures established by the lab director or technical supervisor
- Participates in lab proficiency testing programs as directed by laboratory director
- Organizes and maintains accurate records, including patients' test reports, and all andrology/endocrinology related procedures
- Assures andrologists are performing procedures competently and reporting results accurately and promptly
- Evaluates the technical ability of andrologists at the end of training and consult with the lab director to sign andrologists to perform procedures independently
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum
- Bachelor's degree in Biology or the Biological Sciences from an accredited university
- 2 years of experience as an Andrologist with organizational/motivational and leadership qualities, complete proficiency in andrology/endocrinology procedures and without serious incident, setbacks, or disciplinary measures.
