Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:

The Marathon Petroleum Detroit Michigan Refinery has an opening for an Analyzer Technician.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, replace, and overhaul refinery analyzer systems and related components (e.g., analyzers, probes, and sensors).
  • Maintain and optimize analyzer sample handling systems, including routine monitoring and preventive maintenance to maximize analyzer on-stream availability.
  • Perform maintenance and calibration on process and environmental analyzers such as Gas Chromatographs (GCs), Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS), Tunable diode lasers (TDL), NIR, and sulfur analyzers.
  • Complete analyzer modifications/changes and required data collection; upload and download analyzer configuration/diagnostic data as needed.
  • Transport, replace, and maintain calibration gases and associated equipment used for analyzer verification and calibration.
  • Diagnose and resolve analyzer and sample system problems; report issues and recommended solutions to leadership and craft/operations partners.
  • Interpret and use engineering drawings and documentation (P&IDs, PFDs, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and procedures, etc) to support analyzer maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in safety meetings/toolbox talks and execute work in accordance with site/MPC Health, Safety & Environmental requirements and applicable standards.
  • Provide instrumentation support for equipment installed in analyzer shelters (e.g., basic calibration/maintenance of associated transmitters, control valves, solenoid valves, gauges, switches, and monitoring devices that interface with analyzer/sample systems).
  • Document analyzer work accurately and timely in maintenance systems and required records (e.g., work orders, calibration records, and condition reports).
  • Callouts, overtime, and off-shift work are required to support safe, reliable refinery operations.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Must have a GED or High School Diploma.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have an Associate's Degree or equivalent in science (specialization in Electronics or Instrumentation), possess an appropriate certificate from a recognized technical school or association, possess a higher degree in a related Engineering Program, OR three or more years of relevant experience.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE and physically perform the job duties.
  • Must be able to pass a physical ability test.
  • Must be able to pass both a Marathon written test and a hands-on skill demonstration test.


PAY AND BENEFITS:
  • $51.97/hour with scheduled annual increases
  • Company sponsored annual bonus with target up of 6% of eligible wages
