Full Job Description
Summary:
Acts as the technical lead for research and development products. Designs and conducts laboratory experiments, analyses, and processes to develop new product offerings.

As an Analytical Scientist, you will be responsible for method development, material characterization, and data interpretation using techniques such as Liquid Chromatography (LC), LC-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS), Gas Chromatography (GC), GC-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC), Rheometer, Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA),Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA), Thermomechanical Analysis (TMA), and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC).

Your work will directly support R&D efforts, quality control, and customer-driven projects in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs advanced material characterization
  • Interact with junior and senior analytical support members to ensure the alignment and progression of the analytical support mission is maintained.
  • Stay abreast of developments in the industry by attending relevant conferences, meeting, symposia and workshops.
  • Assists in constructing relationships between material components for problem solving.
  • Method development, validation, documentation.
  • Independent learning of tools and techniques, tool theory, practice and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of internal customer needs and applications and is capable of translating these needs into innovative analysis to facilitate technical directions pursued by BSI.
  • Understand BSI systems to ensure that data and information collected aligns with product development requirements (BPD, FMEA, etc...)
  • Helps set safety and housekeeping standards and monitors how they are practiced in daily activities
  • Keeps up-to-date on best laboratory notebook practices and helps to improve and implement the process

Education & Credentials:
  • PhD preferred in analytical chemistry or related field or
  • Master's Degree in analytical chemistry or related field plus 3 years' experience materials development or
  • Equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Background in Analytical Chemistry, Materials Science, Organic or Polymer Chemistry is preferred
  • Experience with project or team leadership preferred
