AES Clean Energy is seeking an Origination Analyst to support the growth of our renewable energy portfolio across the Western region. In this role, you will contribute to analysis, research, and transaction execution activities that support Requests for Proposals (RFPs), bilateral opportunities, and strategic customer engagements related to wind, solar, and energy storage projects.
This position offers the opportunity to further develop expertise in renewable energy markets, customer-facing commercial transactions, and clean energy development while collaborating with professionals across the organization.
The role supports a variety of commercial structures, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs), and Build Transfer Agreements.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Origination, the Origination Analyst will work closely with colleagues across Origination, Commercial, Development, Finance, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to help advance clean energy solutions that support customer sustainability goals.
Main Responsibilities
Support the sourcing, evaluation, negotiation, and execution of long-term power sale agreements that advance renewable energy and energy storage projects while helping customers achieve their sustainability and carbon reduction objectives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Commercial, Development, Finance, Engineering, and other stakeholders, to support the successful delivery of origination transactions.
Conduct market, customer, and competitive research to support business development efforts and strategic decision-making.
Prepare and maintain internal analyses, presentations, transaction materials, and RFP summaries.
Develop customer proposals and presentation materials for both competitive solicitations and bilateral opportunities.
Monitor industry developments, market trends, policy changes, and emerging opportunities that may influence renewable energy development and customer demand.
Support the continuous improvement and standardization of commercial and transaction processes across the business.
Assist in evaluating commercial opportunities and helping drive projects from initial customer engagement through transaction execution.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, Physical Sciences, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Exposure to U.S. energy markets, renewable energy, infrastructure, utilities, or related industries.
Familiarity with renewable energy technologies, including solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to balance customer needs with business objectives and navigate evolving priorities.
Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Word, and SharePoint.
Experience with Salesforce or other customer relationship management (CRM) platforms is a plus.
Ability to collaborate effectively within diverse, cross-functional teams.
The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $84,000 and $101,150/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes annual bonus.
