POSITION SUMMARY :

Cogeco Communication, a publicly traded multinational communications company, is seeking a Planning & Strategy Analyst to join its team. Reporting to the Director, Planning & Consolidation, the Analyst will play an active role in supporting the company's budget and long term forecasting processes.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the FP&A team as well as the larger Finance team in the process of analysing annual consolidated budgets, quarterly forecasts and long term forecasting for the two public companies Cogeco Inc. and Cogeco Communications Inc.

This will be a visible and cross functional role with exposure to the senior leadership team. The successful candidate will be highly analytical, detail oriented, and driven to make an impact on the Company's operations as an internal partner to the finance team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Budget & Forecasting:
  • Participate in the process of preparing annual consolidated budgets and quarterly forecasts for the two public companies Cogeco Inc. and Cogeco Communications Inc.
  • Conduct variance analysis by comparing actual results with budgets and forecasts, and identify key drivers of performance
  • Participate in the preparation of financial documentation to be provided to senior management, the board of directors and other stakeholders
  • Participate in the preparation of monthly rolling forecasts through questioning outcomes by leveraging your strong understanding of the key operational drivers
  • Be a key point of contact for Investor Relations on all topics related to Budget and Forecasting


Strategic Support
  • Develop, maintain and improve short, medium and long term financial models.
  • Participate in special projects, including the production of ad hoc analyses to influence decision-making
  • Be a key point of contact for Corporate Development on all topics related to strategic planning.


Leverage AI through Automation
  • Automate rolling forecasts by leveraging insights obtained through connections with financial software as well as other operational data sets.
  • Integrate "what-if" scenarios into rolling forecast models
  • Ability to consolidate complex financial information into concise, easily understood summaries with a mind for the "headlines", the "why" and also forward looking implications.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data in the various financial models
  • Collaborate with different departments to develop, update and maintain financial models, budgets and forecasts. Analyze financial data, variances and trends to provide actionable information.


ESSENTISSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

ACADEMIC TRAINING
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting
  • CPA designation is an asset
  • CFA designation (or in the process of being completed) is an asset

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in corporate finance

SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to summarize and present information.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain complex financial models.
  • Advanced knowledge of GSuite, Excel, WorkDay and other financial software
  • Ability to work effectively and independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Accountability for one's work and attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal skills and strong team spirit.
  • Written and oral communication skills, in French and English. The incumbent will have to collaborate with stakeholders in both Canada and the United States.
  • Excellent skills in presenting complex financial information to various audiences.
  • Experience in corporate finance is an asset.
  • Experience in telecommunications is an asset.
