Analyst, Data - Workday

Summary

The Workday Data Analyst is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of employee and organizational data within Workday. This position serves as the key resource for ongoing Workday data auditing, validation, reconciliation, reporting, and analytics, helping ensure that HR data is complete, accurate, timely, and aligned with established business and data governance standards. The Data Analyst will conduct recurring and ad hoc audits of Workday data, identify data quality issues and trends, research root causes, coordinate corrections with HRIS and HR stakeholders, and develop reporting and analytical solutions to support data governance and operational decision-making.

General Description Duties & Responsibilities
  • Workday Data Auditing & Data Quality
    • Perform routine and comprehensive audits of employee, organizational, job compensation, supervisory organization, position, and other HR data within Workday.
    • Develop and execute recurring data quality audits to identify missing, inaccurate, inconsistent, outdated, or improperly configured data.
    • Validate Workday data against established business rules, policies, organizational structures.
    • Conduct data reconciliations between Workday and downstream systems.
    • Identify data anomalies, investigate discrepancies, determine root causes, and coordinate appropriate remediation.
    • Maintain detailed documentation of audit findings, corrective actions, trends, and outstanding data issues.
    • Monitor data quality metrics and identify recurring issues that may require process, configuration, training, or governance changes.
    • Assist with the development and maintenance of data quality standards, validation rules, audit procedures, and controls.
    • Support periodic HR data governance activities, including periodic data reviews and clean-up activities as needed.
    • Support data validation associated with Workday releases, enhancements, integrations, organizational changes, and system updates.
    • Analyze Workday data to identify trends, patterns, exceptions, and potential areas of risk.
  • Reporting & Data Analysis
    • Build and maintain Workday reports used for data auditing, validation, and reconciliation.
    • Perform ad hoc analysis of HR data to support audit findings and business inquiries.
    • Assist in developing dashboards and recurring reports to monitor data quality.
    • Translate audit findings into clear summaries for HRIS and HR stakeholders.
    • Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting and audit processes.
  • HRIS Operations & Support
    • Provide analytical and technical support to the HRIS team for Workday-related data issues.
    • Collaborate with HRIS administrators, Workday functional leads, integration resources, and other technical team members to troubleshoot data issues.
    • Assist with Workday configuration testing by validating data and expected results.
    • Support testing of Workday business processes, reports, integrations, and system enhancements.
    • Identify opportunities to improve data accuracy through process improvements, automation, or system configuration changes.
    • Maintain documentation or audit procedures, data definitions, and validation rules.
    • Participate in Workday release testing and regression testing, with particular emphasis on data impacts.
    • Support special projects and other HRIS initiatives as assigned


Qualifications

Required experience
  • 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience with Workday.
  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, human resources, business administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with Workday HCM data, reporting, and business processes as well as performing data audits, reconciliations, validation, or data quality analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including LOOKUP functions, INDEX/MATCH, IF statements, pivot tables, and data validation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to spot issues and risks and escalate when appropriate.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines with a sense of urgency.
  • Attention to detail with a strong focus on operational excellence.


Preferred Experience
  • Workday reporting experience, including custom and advanced reports.
  • Experience with HR data governance and data quality frameworks.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL or another data visualization/analytics tool.
  • Experience with business process testing and Workday release testing.
  • Experience supporting SOX-controlled environments.
  • Experience working with payroll, benefits, compensation, recruiting, time tracking, or other HR systems.
  • Workday certification is a plus.


Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred


Salary Range

$114,750 - 140,000
