Full Job Description
Nationalgrid is hiring an Analyst, Capital Project Construction for our New York Electric Project Management & Construction department in Lancaster, NY. This position will support our Civil/Substations Contracting group, Distribution Contracting group, Transmission Line Maintenance group and Transmission Line Services. This will be a hybrid role with time spent in the office as needed with at least 3 days a week in office.

Job Purpose

The Analyst will analyze data and activities to provide relevant and up-to-date information to support decision-making and the effective working of our New York Construction Group within Project Management & Construction.

With more experience in the role, this person will also design and implement procedures and policies within their area of work to improve the working performance of nationalgrid's construction operations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Working with Finance business partners, collate and analyze work unit and/or financial data within one or multiple areas using pre-determined tools, methods, and formats to support the department's decision-making processes. Also review financial information, updating where necessary, to identify any anomalies or discrepancies and ensure management has access to up-to-date and accurate information.
  • Prepare and write relevant documentation in order that all stakeholders are fully informed, and all evidence or statistics are documented.
  • Execute instructions and requests, plan and organize resources and make appropriate arrangements, including any administrative tasks needed to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and in line with relevant policies and processes.
  • Maintain and provide information such as regulatory information to ensure regulators and other stakeholders are kept up to date with relevant nationalgrid policies, processes, and programs.
  • Build upon technical/professional skills within own area of specialism or of other processes to continually grow your personal contribution to the business.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to obtain and share information that will benefit nationalgrid.
  • Monitor and review work undertaken by project team to provide feedback on the appropriate use of materials, tools, equipment or resources and adherence to schedules.


Additional accountabilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Monitor and prepare reports on KPI goals concerning Safety and tracking of team training performance cycles, functional reports regarding Fleet vehicle activities including but not limited to Vehicle utilization, Code Blue vehicle testing, vehicle replacements, rental equipment PHH/Element & Fuel exception reports.
  • Monitor telecom and data usage by department while recommending reducing overhead expenses where appropriate.
  • Schedule, create agenda and coordinate attendees for staff meetings, union meetings and others, as requested.
  • Responsible for supporting financial and non-financial controls to meet business requirements.
  • Manage electronic devices through Mobil-sense (now Tango), and supplemental contractors through Pontoon.
  • Assigned to storm role for support of major system events.
  • Assist managers and supervisors with tool and equipment rentals/purchases.
  • Assist managers with department hub data updates and periodic phone calls to support operations.
  • Prepare and forward team expense & Credit card reports in SAP GUI (Concur)
  • Create Ariba Purchase Requisitions & administer limit purchase orders (POs) for preferred vendors, when requested.
  • Maintain departmental SharePoint sites.
  • Other duties, as assigned


Qualifications

Required:

  • Supervisory/Interpersonal Skills
  • An Associates Degree or higher in a business or engineering related area with or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of related work experience
  • Proficient in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of project management techniques and methods.
  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge / experience of Accounts Payable and the impact on departments metrics of timely approvals of Purchase Requisitions / Purchase Orders and payment of related invoices


Preferred:

  • Knowledge of nationalgrid's business operations, company policies and practices, and/or ability to learn quickly.
  • Working knowledge of relevant industry practice and legislation.
  • Familiarity with the following business systems and processes preferred: Ariba, SAP, SAP GUI, IMS, ARCOS, Visio, Microsoft Suite of products such as SharePoint, Office 365, OneDrive and TEAMS


Salary

$84,000 - $98,000 a year
