Full Job Description
Paragon is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Analog Electronics Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and documentation of analog electronic systems that support nuclear safety. This position requires an individual that can take written specification to a manufacturable hardware design. The individual will be responsible for creating analog circuit designs that meet specified design requirements. Circuit simulation experience, PCB schematic capture and layout experience is required. Ability to calculate tolerances, errors, and drift are examples of expected design functions. Candidate must be able to write circuit function and individual component justifications, along with circuit theory of operation in detail. Post design functions, such as writing acceptance and testing procedures will be part of the typical duties and expectations. Prior nuclear experience is preferred but not required.

A core component of this position also involves the reverse engineering and modernization of legacy electronics, ensuring long-term reliability and performance in highly regulated environments. This role is ideal for engineers with a deep understanding of analog design principles who are also adept at tackling the challenges of obsolete components and re-creating complex, safety-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze analog circuits, including power supplies, amplifiers, filters, signal conditioning, and interface circuitry.
  • Support the redesign and re-engineering of obsolete electronics to meet current manufacturing standards and qualification requirements.
  • Interpret and replicate legacy hardware using available documentation, circuit analysis, and bench testing.
  • Collaborate with drafting and layout teams to generate schematics, PCB layouts, and mechanical drawings. Ability to create drawings for designed electronics is required.
  • Help develop and execute test plans and qualification protocols to validate performance, including environmental and functional testing.
  • Evaluate alternative components for equivalency in form, fit, and function when dealing with obsolete or discontinued parts.
  • Conduct failure analysis on legacy and redesigned systems, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation in accordance with internal quality standards, including:
    • Circuit Design Specifications
    • Design Calculations
    • Test Procedures and Reports
    • Equivalency Evaluations
    • Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
  • Interface with component suppliers and external test labs to ensure compliance and resolve technical issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in analog circuit design and testing; experience in redesign or reverse engineering.
  • Strong foundation in analog electronics theory, signal integrity, and circuit analysis.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills aligned with quality-controlled environments. Attention to detail is critical.
  • Ability to manage design efforts from concept through final release.
  • Proficiency with Altium PCB schematic and layout or equivalent.
