About the team and the role:eBay's Compliance team is building a strong, innovative Anti-Money Laundering / Counter Terrorist Financing (AML/CTF) program that supports trust, safety, and regulatory excellence across our marketplace ecosystem. This team plays a meaningful role in strengthening transaction monitoring capabilities for eBay, Depop, and other subsidiaries, while helping build a culture of compliance through data-driven insights and scalable controls.
The AML Transaction Monitoring Specialist will be a foundational contributor to the Transaction Monitoring Program, partnering across AML Compliance, Engineering, Risk, Product, Customer Experience, Finance, Legal, and Operations. In this role, you will help build, improve, and maintain monitoring rules, analytics, reporting, and system controls that detect potential money laundering and terrorist financing activity. What you will accomplish:- Analyze large, sophisticated datasets to identify trends, patterns, and typologies related to potential money laundering or terrorist financing activity, and translate insights into clear reporting for leadership.
- Design, test, implement, and maintain transaction monitoring rules, scenarios, and supporting analytics that strengthen AML program coverage across eBay, Depop, and other subsidiaries.
- Build and enhance KPI dashboards, standardized reporting packages, and ad hoc analyses that help measure program effectiveness and support timely business and compliance decisions.
- Partner cross-functionally with Compliance, Engineering, Risk, Product, Operations, and other stakeholders to define business requirements and deliver scalable monitoring and control solutions.
- Improve data architecture, mapping, ingestion, and automation to support efficient monitoring processes, strong data quality, and sustainable operational controls.
- Support high-priority compliance data and technology initiatives, contributing to system improvements, risk mitigation strategies, and the continued evolution of a best-in-class transaction monitoring program.
What you will bring:- Must reside in the Austin metro area and be able to work onsite in our Austin office 3 or more days per week.
- 2-4 years of experience working with large datasets and writing complex queries across multiple data sources, with hands-on skills in Python, SQL, and data analysis in a compliance, risk, or technology environment.
- 2-4 years of experience in transaction monitoring, AML typologies, financial crime risk, or related compliance disciplines, with the ability to help develop effective monitoring coverage and risk-based rules.
- 2-4 years of experience with data warehousing, big data environments such as Hadoop, and business intelligence tools such as Tableau; advanced Excel skills are a plus.
- 2-4 years of experience in statistical modeling, data mapping, reporting automation, and translating analytical findings into practical business or compliance solutions.
- Strong communication, documentation, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain insights and recommendations clearly to partners and leaders across functions.

Additional DetailsThe base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$85,000-$105,000
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
