Amazon is hiring a highly effective Finance Manager to partner with the Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) lab in San Francisco on building practical AI that can actually do things for us and make our customers more productive, empowered, and fulfilled. The role will be the local CFO with daily interactions with leaders from science, software development, and product teams. This team is really excited about the work in combining large language models (LLMs) with reinforcement learning (RL) to solve reasoning and planning, learned world models, and generalizing agents to physical environments. Key job responsibilities
- Build and maintain in depth knowledge across key business areas by staying current on initiatives, goals, business challenges and opportunities spanning a wide surface area for the SF research lab and product team
- Own financial planning cycles and month end close with a focus on data investments, AWS compute usage, and employee resourcing to support rapidly evolving business requirements
- Partner with the business to design and implement key performance indicators and reporting solutions to drive insights and enable quicker and more effective decision making to achieve critical goals
- Identify, quantify and drive operational and cost saving initiatives focused on productivity, efficiency, and cost avoidance across multiple products and services

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- 5+ years of leading cross-functional initiatives that drive financial performance and strategy experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience
- 5+ years of dissecting financial data and identifying patterns that support business strategy experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
