This position is located in Herndon, VA or Anchorage, AK. 

 

Help shape the future of U.S. airspace safety and efficiency. We are seeking an Alaska Workstream Deputy Program Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will assist the workstream lead, acting as an additional liaison between FAA stakeholders, engineering teams, and program leadership, ensuring that requirements unique to Alaska’s operational environment are effectively translated into deliverables. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain in-depth experience in federal contracting while supporting high-visibility aviation programs.

 

In this position, you will:

  • Serve as the primary deputy and delegated authority to the Workstream Lead for day-to-day program execution and internal coordination.
  • Support execution of all contract functions, including program execution, quality, safety, security, risk, cost, schedule, subcontractor oversight, and workforce management.
  • Maintain situational awareness of NEEDS Package performance, risks, milestones, staffing, and dependencies, ensuring timely escalation and mitigation planning.
  • Coordinate with Government counterparts, partner organizations, subcontractors, and internal teams to support delivery of engineering, sustainment, cybersecurity, logistics, and facilities services.
  • Support project planning and control activities, including billing and invoicing to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Assist in preparation and delivery of multiple report deliverables, including regular status reports, progress reports, KPIs, and value delivery metrics to FAA leadership, ensuring accuracy of reporting. Lead the development of quarterly Program Management Reviews (PMRs) and ad hoc internal data calls.
  • Participate in recurring Government status meetings.
  • Collaborate with FAA leaders, local operators, and technical experts to help define priorities and ensure alignment with mission objectives.
  • Support the deployment of infrastructure, communications, surveillance, and navigation solutions specific to Alaska.
  • Ensure personnel compliance with Government policies, security directives, and operational procedures.
  • Coordinate staffing activities including onboarding, training, certification tracking, and personnel scheduling.
  • Support subcontractor performance oversight and coordination.
  • Lead internal action tracking, maintain documentation baselines, and support process improvement efforts.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience; or Masters degree and 10 years; or Associate’s degree and 14 years experience; or HS diploma/equivalent and 16 years experience.
  • Product ownership, systems engineering, or aviation program management experience.
  • Strong background in aviation systems, infrastructure, or communications technologies.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills with experience briefing executives.
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct FAA or NAS configuration management experience.
  • Degree in Systems Engineering, Aviation Management, or Business Administration.
  • Experience supporting FAA NextGen or Alaska aviation modernization initiatives.
  • Experience working directly with regional operators, airports, or state aviation authorities.

Target Salary Range$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
