Air Vehicle Engineering Manager

The BGS Engineering Team is seeking a first line manager over a diverse multi-disciplined team of engineers. This Manager is set to join the team located in Fort Walton Beach, FL. This leader will be responsible for leading and guiding the execution of multiple programs to include comprehensive engineering support. Selected candidate must be able to work in a high visible, fast-paced, diverse work environment. The candidate will oversee, guide, and influence overhaul execution teams and technical leadership engineering teams. The candidate must have a strong leadership background, business acumen, interpersonal and communication skills.

You will need to have extensive knowledge and experience in execution of integration activities for collaborating with engineering, program management, supplier management, contracting and other functions for multiple programs with products in various life-cycle phases. Additionally, you will have the ability to create a teaming environment across organizational boundaries, along with understanding the importance of open & honest communication.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Leads a diverse team of engineering and logistics integrators to achieve technical alignment across multiple functions and ensure successful business execution
  • Works to ensure appropriate engineering resources are in place to enable successful manufacturing, repair and overhaul activities.
  • Utilizes strong communication and collaboration skills to build cross-business unit relationships to create alignment in execution strategy
  • Leads resolution of technical issues and risks, working with both internal and external teams to find solutions
  • Provides vision and leadership in capturing future business opportunities
  • Works to lead continuous improvement efforts to improve performance on current contracts
  • Works to coach, develop, and inspire employees

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership"
  • 1+ years of experience with Program Management Best Practices (PMBP)
  • 1+ years of experience working in or supporting a manufacturing environment
  • 1+ years of experience partnering with a United States Government (USG) Department of Defense (DoD) customer to propose or deliver services and products
  • Prior aviation or aerospace experience


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) processes, qualifications, limitations and training. Processing of Non-Conformance Tags, various disposition types, signature requirements and authorities.
  • 1+ years of experience employing Earned Value Management techniques either as a project manager, control account manager, or control account manager assistant
  • ABET accredited engineering degree
  • Experience with schedule and budget management, integration of all logistics elements, customer communication, as well as understanding of execution of program planning to ensure cost, schedule and technical baseline requirements are met
  • Experience with military aircraft
  • Experience working with the US Navy as a customer
  • Experience executing FMS contracts
  • Experience supporting defense acquisition and proposal development
