GHD is seeking a motivated Air Quality Professional to join our EHS team in Houston, TX, Detroit, MI, or Chicago, IL. The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects for clients in the oil & gas and chemical sectors in the US. Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

Research, design, plan, and perform engineering duties in the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental hazards using various engineering disciplines. Work may include waste treatment, site remediation, or pollution control technology.

Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple air quality projects spanning a variety of disciplines including: air quality permitting, dispersion modeling, emissions reporting, regulatory compliance, audits, and more.
  • Conduct air quality analyses, assess regulatory compliance, and perform regulatory applicability evaluations.
  • Develop complete and accurate air quality permits for Title V, Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD), and New Source Review compliance.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
  • Engineering Drawings: Create engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions.
  • Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace. Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action to resolve them, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
  • Technical Developments Recommendation: Research and suggest technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users' needs.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Testing: Use product specifications to design test procedures and standards.
  • Research: Carry out a range of research activities either to support others or to fulfill the requirements of the role.
  • Waste Management: Lead waste projects or supervise area of the organization, ensuring adherence to regulations and effective reduction, segregation, and disposal of waste.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Support technical troubleshooting efforts, aiding in the quick and accurate identification, analysis, and resolution of technical issues with equipment and experiments.
  • Project Management: Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
  • Client & Customer Management (External): Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems.

Education
  • BS in chemical, or environmental, engineering or BS in environmental or related sciences; MS preferred but not mandatory.

Experience
  • General Experience: Experience enables job holder to deal with the majority of situations and to advise others (Over 3 years to 6 years)
  • Managerial Experience: Experience of general supervision of more junior colleagues (7 to 12 months)
  • Further experience with initial applications, renewals and revisions for variety of permitting mechanisms, including, but not limited to: GHG, Standard Permit, and Permits by Rule.
  • Prepare emission inventory reports; quantify air pollutant emissions and impacts.
