What You Will Be Doing:
In this role, you will work closely with a team of experts in AI, software engineering, and systems development. You will contribute to the development of innovative solutions that support the organization's goals and objectives for information retrieval. You will develop solutions that inform data-driven decision making and help the organization stay ahead of the curve. You will architect, deploy, and support enterprise scaled services hosted on Cloud and on-premise technologies. This role will provide you with a unique opportunity to learn and grow, mentor, and make meaningful contributions to the team's efforts.

Basic Qualifications
• 15+ years of progressive software development experience, with at least 10 years as a full-stack engineer on large-scale, production-grade systems.
• Advanced Python expereince (can mentor others and influence best practices)
• Expertise in MLOps and cloud-native deployments and proven track record delivering for/supporting the entire life cycle of an AI-powered application
• Leadership of multiteam GitHub/GitLab repositories
• Experience with LLMs and/or Generative AI.
• Architectural design and operational ownership of Information Retrieval & Semantic Discovery systems (vector stores, k-NN, hybrid search, relevance feedback loops).
• Strategic stakeholder engagement - regularly advises senior business leaders, external partners, and customers on technical roadmaps and risk mitigation
• Demonstrated strategic use of GenAI Coding Assistants to accelerate development, enforce standards, and increase team velocity.
• US Citizenship is required due to program requirements and system access
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, AI/ML, or a related field or equivalent education/experience

• Advanced CI/CD & GitOps - architect and govern enterprise-wide pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD) and automated release strategies for zero-downtime deployments)
• Advanced Data engineering - built and maintained large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines, data lakes, and relational/columnar stores (RDS, Redshift, Snowflake) that power indexing and relevance models.
• Advanced proficiency in at least two other languages (e.g., Java, C++, Go, Rust) with contributions to core services written in those languages.
• Vector and graph database expertise.
• Agentic/Autonomous Workflow Design - design, prototype, and operationalize AI agents that orchestrate complex data-retrieval and decision-making pipelines.
• Excellent communication and liaison experience with external technical partners, customers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experienced in agile development methodologies champion SAFe/LeSS practices, mentor Scrum Masters, and ensure consistent delivery across multiple feature teams)
• Proven thought leadership - publications, patents, or open-source contributions in IR, LLM integration, or MLOps that influence industry best practices.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, AI/ML or related field

Ability to work remotely

Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $156,400 - $275,655. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement

For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
