Overview and Impact

Responsible for maintaining and improving quarry operations, and for fostering a culture of safety, integrity, collaboration, and customer service.

Core Responsibilities
  • Strictly adheres to and promotes environmental, health, safety and training policies, company policies, procedures, and requirements, including but not limited to wearing proper PPE as required.
  • Coordinates personnel and activities utilizing knowledge of department functions, company policies regulations, and quarry standards and practices.
  • Reviews and analyzes reports, records, directives, regulations, and confers with plant manager and other supervisors to obtain data for required planning of activities and solving department problems.
  • Gives work direction, prepares work schedules, and sets deadlines.
  • Manages personnel to prepare work areas for upcoming maintenance activities by ensuring necessary parts are ordered and in stock.
  • Coordinates with other departments to insure optimal efficiency and economy.
  • Completes required reports and records for management.
  • Evaluates procedures and practices for improvements.
  • Employs excellent communication, leadership and customer service skills.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Models professional and courteous attitude and behavior to all.
  • Develops strong, practical knowledge of the plants, products, people and equipment.
  • Supports product quality and customer service by maintaining strong communication with plant manager, Quality Control and all lines of business.
  • Employs Front Line Leadership Training principles to coach and provide effective performance management of employees (upon training completion).
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends as required.
  • Additional duties as assigned or required.

Required Education/Experience/Skills
  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED), or 3+ years of quarry/asphalt related experience or training in supervision.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of English and math, office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with and work professionally with other personnel.
  • Ability to deal effectively with questions or problems, seeking assistance when needed, display expert level problem-solving abilities and an eagerness to learn and grow.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exercise appropriate job decisions following standard policies and past precedents, prioritizing effectively.
  • Intermediate level of computer literacy- Microsoft Outlook and data entry.


Preferred Education/Experience/Skills
  • Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities.

This job will require both office work and field work. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
