The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) Law Department's Real Estate & Economic Development Division (REED) provides legal assistance regarding real estate development, land use, as well as commercial and community center leasing and licensing. Under supervision from the EVP, with latitude for independent judgment and unreviewed action and decision, responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 1.Negotiate and draft documents for complex real estate transactions involving construction, financing, and development of public housing, low income, mixed income and affordable housing developments. 2.Provide legal advice on the acquisition, disposition, development and leasing of real estate and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) programs in connection therewith. 3.Draft and review land sale contracts, license agreements, leases, deeds, regulatory agreements, development agreements, control agreements, loan documents and land use documents. 4.Review title reports and surveys. 5.Provide legal advice on federal, state, and local regulatory matters affecting development and disposition of real property and related assets, including issues involving HUD programs and various tax credits supporting the development of housing.
