Advisor, Climate Change & Energy Management

Status: (1) Regular Full Time

Salary Range: $105,754 - $132,193 per annumplus comprehensive benefits

Hiring Range: $105,754 - $118,974per annumplus comprehensive benefits

Location:10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton

Hours of work:35 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Measurement & Verification: Develop and implement robust plans to accurately assess energy consumption, demand reductions, and GHG emission reductions.
  • Project Management: Ensure successful execution of energy projects, adhering to timelines, quality standards, and budget constraints.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to support the Region's Energy and Environment Sustainability Strategy and achieve corporate strategic goals.
  • Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough energy audits, benchmark performance, and evaluate feasibility studies to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • GHG Monitoring: Lead greenhouse gas emission monitoring and develop innovative strategies for effective emissions management.
  • Community Engagement: Drive participation in energy conservation programs and initiatives that promote environmental stewardship across the Region.

What the role requires:

  • University degree in Engineering or related field
  • Specialized knowledge of energy and deregulated markets and current energy Ontario industry
  • Minimum four (4) years experience in the power/energy/electricity industry, including the areas of risk management, purchasing, supply management, sales and/or control, billing and reporting
  • Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP)
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) would be an asset
  • Hands on experience with energy management, power generation or energy technologies
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered

Skills/Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of renewable energy systems such as wind power, solar power, hydro-electric power, biogas power, biomass power and ground source heat pumps
  • Strong knowledge in international measurement and verification protocols, ISO 14064, 50001, ICLEI, WRI GHG Protocol and other recognized GHG related standards and protocols, CaGBC Standards such as the ZCB standard, LEED standards.
  • Effective decision-making, negotiation, planning and project management
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare comprehensive reports, develop creative solutions to complex problems and present recommendations regarding energy management and procurement
  • Superior business analysis and consultation skills
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

Nice to have:

  • P.Eng designation
  • PMP designation
  • Certified member of OACETT in good standing
