Contract Dates: July 2026 - August 2027 Position SummaryThe Advising and Pathways Student Success Coordinator is a collaborative, relational, organized, exceptionally detail-oriented inquisitive activator who maintains and reinforces the advising pillars valuing relational, empowering, seamless, holistic and learning-centered professionalize advising practices, carefully customized to meet the needs of Centennial College's diverse learning student populations. An instrumental support to the Manager, Student Advising, the incumbent provides guidance and leadership coordinating administrative, operational, and advising best practice functions, ensuring team members understand and uphold project outcomes that support student success. As a result, the incumbent must be collaborative, exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, highly professional, possess a high degree of emotional intelligence, and exercise reasonable independent judgement across a number of activities for the Manager, Student Advising and advising network.
Overall, the incumbent is a recognized and dependable team lead - driven by student success - who ensures that operations within the advising network are clear, professional, relational, effective and progressing in an efficient way in order to position students for success.
Responsibilities - Serves as the lead coordinator with respect to quality assurance in the advising network;
- Creates qualitative and quantitative surveys for Advising to assess operations within the established assessment framework, conducting preliminary analysis of data to assess opportunities to enhance student success;
- Explores and develops new research program opportunities;
- Supports the Advising portfolio in the creation and execution of student engagement tools and communication, ensuring coordination with other areas across the College;
- Serves as a project and committee manager for the Advising portfolio, setting up meetings, distributing materials, monitoring milestones, following-up on tasks and reporting on deliverables;
- Supports the development of the Advising Strategic Plan;
- Coordinates events and activities related to the Advising portfolio;
- Serves as the team lead for the advising and triage team and establishes and ensures compliance with respect to standards and expectations for student information storage and sharing;
- Assesses inquiries and responds to students, College partners within the advising network and external stakeholders (research partner institutions) on a range of items, including projects, policies/procedures, programs, clarification questions, and operating practices related to scope of duties
- Collaborates with stakeholders across the division to create engagement strategy and communication templates;
- Ensures a highly relational approach to the student experiences as a top priority in each project, service and operational process within Advising.
Qualifications/Experience - Minimum four (4) year degree in Communications, Business, Project Management, Sociology or Education; plus, professional certification equivalent education and work experience will be considered.
- Coursework or project experience in research methods and data analysis (quantitative and qualitative), including tools like SAS, SPSS, or NVIVO.
- Graduate certificate in Project Management would be an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of experience independently managing high profile projects using project management best practices.
- Exceptional abilities with respect to design, coordination and evaluation of learning, scope, and satisfaction outcomes related to student success (i.e., data analysis).
- Experience conducting statistical studies and presenting the results in both written and presentation form - and in a meaningful, clear, and accessible way for diverse audiences.
- Experience designing and coordinating student programs and communication plans.
- Familiarity and experience with qualitative research methodologies and coordinating research plans.
- Experience leading collaborative projects and committees, including establishing foundations for their operations (e.g., accountability maps, information sharing, etc.).
- Experience working with student advising, student life cycle and academic policies.
- High degree of political acumen, professional sensitivity, and emotional intelligence, with experience advising and de-escalating situations involving students, including those with mental health conditions
- Knowledge of student and adult learning and development theories (e.g., college-impact; social identity; psychosocial, cognitive, racial identity development; etc.).
- Experience in a post-secondary environment, with a sophisticated understanding of equity principles and experience working in diverse populations who comprise the student body.
- Excellent written communication skills and interpersonal skills to facilitate meetings, prepare and deliver presentations, explain complex ideas to diverse audiences, build consensus, and influence decision-making.
- Ability to apply a student-focused lens using psychologically attuned communication, clear instructions and able to make it fun, relational, empowering, holistic and engaging for students.
- Ability to travel between campuses when working on-site.
