BSD MED - Gastroenterology - Advanced Practice Providers


Job Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider reports to the manager of the gastroenterology advanced practice program and the chief of the Section of Gastroenterology and/or assigned Supervising Physician(s), Section Administration and attending physicians assigned (monthly) to the service.

Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive care to both outpatients and inpatients within Gastroenterology practices, working within the Practice Guideline.

  • Works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, using advanced clinical skills to manage a caseload of patients as an independent healthcare provider.

  • Conducts assessment, diagnosis, initiation of delegated medical treatments, independent nursing interventions and evaluation of care, in addition to certain diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures.

  • Provides a model of care that is shaped by theory, expanded by science, research and reflective practice, and is identified by a holistic and comprehensive approach to the patients.

  • Develops diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions needed to achieve the goals and outcomes of the patient’s plan of care.

  • Evaluates goals and outcomes taking into account the benefits verses burden,safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness for the patient, family and the organization.

  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree from an accredited school/college.


Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through a combination of education and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a related job discipline.


Certifications:

Current and/or eligible for State of Illinois licensure/registration required. Eligibility to be privileged and credentialed through the Medical Staff Office (MSO). - State of Illinois

  • Willing to be privileged and credentialed through UCM Medical Staff Office prior to start date.

  • Ability to conduct physical examinations and health assessments required.

  • Ability to interview and obtain medical information required.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently required.

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical skill required.

  • Proficiency in the use of computers required
