The
Medical College of Wisconsin's Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology is seeking a
Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for the patients in our outpatient services.
This position is located at our Froedtert/MCW Cancer Center Community sites, primarily at Froedtert Mequon Health Center - Outpatient Cancer Clinic with potential coverage at FMLH and other community sites as needed.
In this role you will:- Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring Hematology/Oncology and Gynecologic Oncology intervention in an outpatient environment as a member of the Hematology and Oncology ambulatory service.
- Writes accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders.
- Orders, performs, and interprets screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information.
- Privileged to perform procedures beyond core as identified by the Hematology/Oncology and Gynecologic Oncology services.
- Facilitates and communicates with patient, family and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care.
- Attend required training and meet key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Joint Commission.
- Evaluates quality outcomes for the patients receiving care of this team through participation in the development of quality indicators and outcomes dashboard.
- Acquires information on the most current developments and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature.
- Participates in ongoing clinical research projects related to the field of Hematology/Oncology and Gynecologic Oncology.
Core Advanced Practice Responsibilities:- Performs comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive and psychosocial status.
- Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develops pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.
- Monitors effectiveness of plan of care.
- Educates patients on disease and treatment plans.
- Performs procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed.
- Documents within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents.
- Collaborates and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.
- Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors

Qualifications:Preferred Experience: Five-year experience as a Physician Assistant/ Nurse Practitioner with at least 1-2 years in a clinic or hospital environment working with chemotherapy or hematology/oncology/BMT patients.
Minimum Education:Advanced Practice Nurse: Master's Degree or higher in Nursing
Physician Assistant: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies
Minimum Requirements: *or eligibleAdvanced Practice Nurse Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner- Wisconsin RN License
- Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
- Certification as Advance Practice Nurse
- Certification as Adult Care NP and/or Family Practice NP preferred
- AHA BCLS
- CITI Certification to be completed within 90 days of hire
