Scope of Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Manager works with Advanced Practice Provider and Division leadership and will function in liaison, oversight, and mentoring roles for other advanced practice providers. The APP Manager reports directly to the APP Director. Administrative and reporting responsibilities as per department expectations. Interacts with the division workforce at large on issues related to advanced practice providers. Assigned responsibility for mentoring advanced practice providers and interactions with stakeholders. Provides professional practice leadership, education, and mentoring, in matters relating to advanced practice, through interactions with peers, APPs, and stakeholders. Supports and promotes the professional development of APRNs or Pas. The APP Manager serves as the liaison between the APRN/PAs and upper-level advanced practice leaders.

The APP Manager is responsible for providing health care services to patients within the parameters of a standard care or supervisory agreement with an attending physician member of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Collaborates with a physician (s) and other clinicians in providing a full scope of patient care. The focus is on preventive health or the management of acute and/or stable chronic conditions. Performs medical services that have been specifically authorized and directed by the credentialing body and the certifying organization through which they hold licensure.

Position Summary

The APP Manager utilizes knowledge, skills, and abilities to optimize APP practice and utilization while supporting APP Leads (where applicable) and front-line staff with sustainable models. The APP Manager aligns with system APP strategic goals and translates these goals into workflow activities and guides their direct reports in the execution.

The APP Manager provides health care services to patients working in collaboration with a licensed physician member of the medical staff. Healthcare services provided include care during acute and chronic phases of illness, education, and counseling of individuals and families, health promotion and prevention, and referral to other healthcare providers and community resources when appropriate

The Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) APP Manager works in collaboration with divisional and departmental leadership, under the direction of the APP Director and the Office of Advanced Practice, to support advanced practice providers across the continuum of women's health services. The APP Manager provides oversight and mentoring for APPs delivering care across ambulatory, inpatient, and procedural settings, and functions as the connecting point between front-line APPs and Upper-Level Advanced Practice leadership. The APP Manager facilitates the alignment of APP practice with APP system goals, divisional/departmental goals, and organizational standards, supporting the development and sustainability of APP roles within the service line.

Minimum Qualifications

Master of Science Degree Nursing or Master's in Physician Assistant Science. APRN License with Certification as an CNP, CNM or National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Eligibility for State of Ohio licensure as a PA-C. Must have at least four (4) years of experience, including a minimum of two (2) years as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) and two (2) years in a lead APP, formal APP administrative leadership, or APP Educator role. 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred.
