Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction from the Nurse Manager of the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program, provides administrative leadership supervising all Administrative Assistants and providing analytical support to the UCLA Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program. Responsible for the initiation of projects, planning and analysis, review of referral and workload reports for all phases, and patient management systems; monitors operational efficiencies. The MSO reports directly to the Nurse Manager of the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program. Job responsibilities are expected to be completed either independently or with minimal supervision by the Nurse Manager of the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program. Overall job performance is evaluated by the Nurse Manager of the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program.

Salary Range:$70,900-145,200/annually

Required:
  • Previous experience working in a medical setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses and other members of the health care community
  • Knowledge of third-party insurances, government programs and other insurance agencies for purposes of obtaining any necessary authorizations for treatment
  • Recent patient registration and appointment scheduling experience knowledge
  • Ability to research medical diagnosis and procedure codes in CPT Code book and ICD-9-CM code book
  • Working knowledge of resources within outpatient and acute care medical center with commensurate ability to refer individuals to appropriate departments
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, customer service skills, time management and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of patient-related policies and procedures, as well as a thorough understanding of the University system
