What is the opportunity?

We are looking for an individual with strong understanding of individual insurance products, with focus on permanent life insurance, to join the Product & Pricing Business Development team within RBC Insurance. Ideal candidate should have strong math or actuarial science background, and/or experience in advanced case support for individual clients and small medium sized business owners. This role will partner between product, actuarial pricing and our sales and distribution teams to support insurance advisors and wholesalers to win business in a highly competitive market.

What will you do?
  • Development and education of sales concepts to be used by advisors
  • Build and maintain insurance illustrations in Excel, or other software applications, to support complex or high net worth client needs
  • Work with Product and Pricing teams to build appropriate insurance solutions for target markets
  • Collaborate with internal business partners in sales and distribution, and influence external insurance advisors to increase RBCI market share
  • Help lead in automation and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency of workflows related to illustrations, special quotes and pricing or product exceptions
  • Respond regularly to client requests and be able to prioritize importance in order to best serve our client


What will you need to succeed?

Must have
  • BSc. in Mathematics, Finance, Actuarial or related fields
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Individual insurance products with a strong attention to detail in mathematical calculations
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office products; primarily Excel
  • Ability to work effectively and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment and communicate effectively (both oral and written)
  • Ability to problem solve and recognize opportunities for improvements in processes
  • Experience with Power Query, SQL, Tableau, VBA, Python and R
  • Solid technical and analytical skills with strong problem-solving ability
