This role will ideally be located (hybrid) in our San Mateo office. Other R&L office locations such as Seattle or San Diego would also be considered.
Responsibilities:

As a key member of our Retiree Health (also known as OPEB for "Other Post-Employment Benefits") team within the larger Health & Welfare practice, the Actuarial Analyst will support actuarial consulting work for clients by performing per-capita health cost projections, preparing retiree health valuations, creating accounting disclosure reports, and assisting with special projects as needed.

We are seeking an analyst with strong technical and communication skills and the ability to establish good working relationships with plan professionals. The successful candidate will enjoy analytical work, be attentive to detail, and work well in a collaborative, client-focused environment.
Necessary Skills and Attributes:
  • Good verbal and written communication, interpersonal, research and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong personal management and organization skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Strong knowledge and skills using Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, business, actuarial science, or a related field, or 2+ years of similar industry experience.
  • 1-2 years of actuarial / valuation work experience is preferred.
  • Actuarial exams in-progress toward an actuarial designation strongly preferred.
Total Comp and Benefits:
