JOB SUMMARY:
The Acting Director of Development, Health (ADOD) will fill a critical need to maintain continuity in one of CARE's key health partnerships (AbbVie Foundation) while the Director of Development, Health is on parental leave. This person will ramp onto the role before the DOD's leave beings in September 2026 and ramp off of the role in April 2027 when the DOD's leave is ending. Under the guidance of the Executive Director of Development, Health, Julianne Mesaric, the ADOD will manage the day-to-day operations and relationship with the partnership, with the primary objective being donor stewardship and ensuring deliverables are executed. PROPOSED LOE: Sept (10%), Oct (50%), Nov (50%), Dec (50%), Jan (50%), Feb (50%), Mar (50%), April (25%).The ADOD will work closely with various business units such as Country Offices, Grants Management, Global Health, and Marketing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate the process of completing and submitting CARE's proposal for AbbVie's U.S. grant renewal, due end of Q2 FY 27. The ADOD will act as a liaison across relevant stakeholders throughout the process, ensuring deliverables are executed and timelines are met. In particular, the ADOD will need to work closely with the US Programs team to ensure timely completion of all relevant documents. The ADOD will also support the coordination externally with AbbVie Foundation stakeholders and engage them throughout the renewal process.
- Under the guidance and leadership of the EDOD, coordinate the day-to-day partnership needs of AbbVie, including staffing all partner calls, managing follow-ups and deliverables, planning forward moves, supporting country office program staff, and coordinating internal technical support.
- With the support from grant managers and technical teams and with the guidance of the EDOD prepare for a
successful close out and spend down of our current AbbVie US grant. This would include working with the grants management, US Programs team, and outside stakeholders such as AbbVie and Mckinsey to ensure projects are on track, the delivery of final technical narratives and reports (due in January 2027), and donor meeting following final report out.
- Manage any other ad-hoc partnership needs, including scheduled meetings, (no) cost extensions requests, comms approvals, reporting, and
meeting facilitation, under the guidance of the EDOD.
