Through rapid assessment events, technical experimentation, and streamlined collaboration mechanisms, DIR-S&T reduces duplication, leverages external R&D, and matures high-potential solutions across priority capability areas such as warfighter performance, battlespace awareness, resilient communications and computing, scalable effects, and signature reduction. The directorate also drives the transition of prototypes and software into acquisition pathways, strengthening innovation pipelines and expanding SOF's access to non-traditional partners and small business technology.

This is a full-time opportunity located at Macdill AFB, FL

  • Prepares, presents, defends, and interprets DoD and commercial studies to the Director S&T and/or other management officials.
  • Brief higher levels of management on program progress, problems, and other factors of interest or inquiry.

  • Maintain and analyze program/project financial, schedule, and performance data (e.g., eSOF activity, obligation/expenditure trends, milestone status) using Excel and government databases; develop dashboards and recurring metrics products to inform DIR-S&T leadership decisions.
  • Ensure data integrity and configuration control of S&T project records across SharePoint/portals and tracking tools; reconcile discrepancies, standardize data definitions, and improve reporting timeliness/accuracy for SITREPs, TMT inputs, and senior leader taskings.
  • Coordinate and support engagements with non-traditional industry, small businesses, academia, and labs (e.g., SOFWERX events, tech exchanges, demos), including stakeholder communications, meeting logistics, action tracking, and documentation of outcomes/next steps.
  • Track and manage the lifecycle of innovation initiatives from intake through assessment/experimentation and transition, documenting technical insights, risk items, and recommended acquisition pathways to accelerate high-potential solutions.
  • Support market research and landscape assessments of emerging technologies, vendors, and capability gaps; synthesize findings into briefings/decision papers for DIR-S&T leadership to prioritize experimentation and investment.
