Role Description
SMBC is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Payable professional join our Procurement Department. This role is critical in maintaining the Accounts Payable ledger and ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices and expense claims. You will work closely with multiple departments across the Americas Division, including Corporate Accounting, Bank Accounting, Reconciliation, Human Resources, and subsidiaries.
Key Responsibilities
-Manages day-to-day accounts payable transactions and ensures the financial accuracy and timeliness of processing for the bank and subsidiaries; provides reports and account analysis in accordance with established reporting systems.
-Manages Cognos reporting including maintenance of existing reports and initiates new reports, manages daily breaks in accounts as well as daily and monthly kick out reports, and analyzes and prepares journal entries for expense account corrections and allocations.
-Coordinates approval process of accounts payable invoices, including validating invoices, and releasing payments.
-Participates in QA tests in established systems to enhance the performance of current software.
-Prepares various reports and corresponds with all levels of management regarding accounting issues including expense and asset types.
-Other Administrative and Ad hoc projects
Qualifications and Skills
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required).
Experience: 2-4 years in a similar role (preferred).
Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience with Oracle EBS and Oracle Cloud (preferred).
Knowledge:
- Accounts Payable processes and basic accounting principles.
- U.S. GAAP and internal controls (preferred).
Soft Skills:
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Quick learner and team player.
