Summary Description:

Armstrong Teasdale LLP is seeking out a talented professional responsible for overseeing the preparation of partnership tax returns and related documents needed for federal, state, local filings, researching tax laws, and working directly with the firm's partners to increase their understanding of their distributions, capital requirements, and other partnership inquires.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with Armstrong Teasdale's CPA firm to ensure timely filing for all income tax returns, developing tax strategies, assisting with the monthly close process, providing guidance to staff, and collaborating with other departments to achieve organizational goals and profitability.

  1. Team Management: Manage, mentor, and train accounting staff, delegate tasks and provide guidance to ensure the accounting team meets deadlines and goals.
  2. Tax Compliance: Oversee the preparation and timely filing of federal, state, and local income tax returns for the partnership.
  3. Tax Planning & Strategy: Monitor tax law changes, develop strategies to minimize tax liabilities, and advise on the tax implications on business decisions
  4. Strategic Input: Collaborate with senior management and other departments to provide strategic financial advice and insights that support business decision making and optimize profitability.
  5. Data Analytics: Strong analytical skills with the ability to review/build financial models in excel.
  6. Partnership Accounting: Supports the partnership accountant in communicating with partners, maintaining capital accounts, and processing monthly distributions
Position Competencies:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting; master's degree is preferred
  • Experience: 3 or more years' experience in general accounting and tax, especially partnership tax; state income tax knowledge preferred
  • Identifies issues and provides solutions to problems; prioritizes effectively
  • Shares information by using data and information to support an argument or point of view; keeps team informed about progress and problems; avoids surprises; understands the appropriate level of confidentiality required
