About the RoleWe are looking for an Accounting Operations Manager to join our growing team and help build the operational foundation that will support our rapid growth and next stage of scale. Reporting to the Controller, this role will own some of our most business-critical operational processes- designing workflows, driving execution, and continuously improving how we manage purchasing, payments, payroll, and other core accounting operations as the company grows.
We are looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of accounting, systems, process design, and internal controls. This role goes beyond traditional accounting execution - you will be responsible for identifying operational inefficiencies, designing scalable workflows and implementing automation.
You will partner closely with Finance, IT & Security, Procurement, People Operations and other business stakeholders to build efficient, auditable, and user-friendly processes that enable the company to move quickly while maintaining strong financial controls. The ideal candidate combines accounting knowledge with a passion for operational excellence and modern finance technology.

We are considering candidates to work out of our San Francisco HQ or remotely within the United States.
You will- Own the accounting operations function, driving scalable, efficient, and well-controlled processes across procure-to-pay, payroll, expense management, corporate card programs, vendor management, and other operational accounting areas as the company grows
- Own accounts payable and payment operations, including vendor onboarding, invoice processing, payment execution, corporate card administration, expense management, and related controls
- Own accounting operations related to payroll including reconciliation of payroll liabilities, employee deductions, benefits, 401K, flexible spending plans and other payroll related accounts
- Ensure quarterly and annual payroll tax filings are accurate and timely in coordination with our payroll provider
- Own accounting operations systems and workflows, driving workflow redesign, automation initiatives, system implementations, and process improvements that strengthen internal controls, support audit readiness, reduce friction, and improve how employees interact with accounting processes
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance, People, IT& Security teams, and other stakeholders to improve operational workflows and strengthen controls across purchasing, payroll, expense management, and other accounting operations processes
- Act as a key partner during audits and compliance activities, owning assigned workstreams and coordinating across internal and external stakeholders
- Support the monthly financial close, including account reconciliations, variance analysis, journal entries, and preparation of management reporting
- Own balance sheet reconciliations for payroll, bank, accounts payable, prepaids, fixed assets, and other GL accounts
- Take ownership of special projects and evolving responsibilities in a fast-growing environment, bringing structure and follow-through to ambiguous work
We're looking for- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 7+ years of experience
- Experience implementing accounting systems and tooling
- Experience owning or supporting accounts payable, payroll accounting, or other operational accounting functions
- Experience leading cross-functional process improvement initiatives and driving adoption of new processes or systems
- Experience supporting financial statement audits and maintaining audit-ready processes and documentation.
- Strong systems aptitude and experience leveraging technology to improve accounting processes
- Experience with balance sheet account reconciliations, including cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accruals, and accounts payable
- Ability to operate independently, manage competing priorities, and drive projects to completion in a fast-paced environment
- Tech industry experience preferred
