About The OpportunityWe are seeking a dynamic and resilient Accounting Manager, Payroll to join our finance team. This is a critical role for an individual who excels in a fast paced, high-change environment and is adept at managing complex, multi state payroll operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our payroll processes while continuously driving improvements in a rapidly evolving setting.
The Impact You'll Make:- Drive the Monthly Close: Direct the timely and accurate completion of the accounting cycle for all assigned areas. Ensure every deadline is met and the books are closed with precision across multiple legal entities.
- Accrual Accounting & Adjusting Entries: Manage the full month-end accrual process to ensure expenses are recognized in the period incurred.
- Intercompany Settlements: Manage and reconcile intercompany payroll allocations and "due to/due from" accounts for employees working across different legal entities
- Own the Payroll Accounting Cycle: responsible for all payroll accounting functions, including journal entries, reconciliations across multiple systems (Workday, ADP, NetSuite, D365), month-end close activities for various legal entities, and manage year-end payroll close activities..
- Ensure Compliance & Accuracy: Lead payroll-related audits, maintain SOX compliance, and stay current with federal, state, and local payroll regulations to ensure flawless execution.
- Drive Process Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to payroll systems, workflows, and reporting. You will be a key player in troubleshooting complex issues and optimizing our system integrations.
- Collaborate and Analyze: Partner with FP&A and HR on forecasting and budgeting, and provide ad hoc reporting and insightful variance analysis to key stakeholders.
What You Bring To The Table:- Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in payroll accounting
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. CPA certification is a plus.
- Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of GAAP and payroll accounting principles. Advanced proficiency in Excel and hands-on experience with payroll software and ERP systems (NetSuite or D365).
- Adaptability & Drive: A demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a demanding, high-volume environment. You are a proactive problem-solver who embraces change and is committed to continuous improvement.
- Integrity & Communication: Exceptional attention to detail, a high level of integrity for handling confidential information, and strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across the organization.
New York Base Salary: $128,000-$135,500 per year.Wonder uses geographic-specific salary structures, which means the salary offered may vary depending on where the job is located. The final salary offer will take into account various factors, such as the candidate's skills, education, training, credentials, and experience.
