We're looking for an Accounting Manager to join our finance team in Woodbridge, Ontario. Reporting to the Divisional Controller, you'll play a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting while partnering with operations and senior leadership to turn financial information into meaningful business insights. Location: Woodbridge, ON (Hybrid-based)
Salary: $100,000-$110,000, based on experience and qualifications.
What You'll Be Doing - Oversee the general accounting function for the Environmental Group, ensuring accurate and timely maintenance of the general ledger, reconciliations, subledgers, and fixed asset registers.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, providing insightful analysis and recommendations to business leaders and senior management.
- Coordinate and prepare annual budgets and forecasts, partnering with business units to understand financial drivers, risks, and opportunities.
- Prepare and file applicable government and sales tax filings, while supporting corporate tax reporting as required.
- Develop and deliver ad hoc financial reports and analysis to support management decision-making and respond to business and Finance department requests.
- Prepare audit working papers, respond to auditor inquiries, and provide accurate and timely information to support an efficient audit process.
- Attend operating, financial review, and management meetings, providing financial guidance, insight, and support to operational and senior leadership teams.
- Implement, monitor, and document effective financial controls, processes, and systems to safeguard the integrity of the general ledger and financial reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, controls, and workflows, driving greater efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across the business.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
Here's What You Need- A college diploma or university degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- CPA designation (CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA).
- At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Experience preparing financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, budgets, forecasts, and audit working papers.
- Experience supporting corporate tax reporting; corporate tax experience is an asset.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, investigate variances, and make meaningful recommendations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and financial reporting systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build credibility and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to coach, mentor, and provide constructive feedback.
