Responsibilities

  • Coach and develop direct reports, establishing performance expectations and KPIs.

Compensation: $110,000 - $125,000 annual salary, plus annual potential for bonus and merit increases

Employment Type: Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt

Reports to: CFO

Location: hybrid in downtown Chicago, IL

Schedule: Standard business hours, Mon - Fri
Position Overview

As the Accounting Manager, you'll support the financial health of the business by reviewing, creating, and managing financial practices and processes. These responsibilities will be achieved through close collaboration with their Coach, their direct report(s), and other internal stakeholders.
How You'll Contribute
  • Oversee and complete monthly close duties by ensuring completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, all financial statements, bank accounts, credit cards, benefits, and escrow accounting reconciliations; prepare and record prepaids, depreciation, and all journal entries; address and research discrepancies with assistance from Accountant.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and related processes.
  • Manage AR biweekly by ensuring timeliness of billings and collections, following up with delinquent accounts, fostering client relationships, and keeping contact information current.
  • Work with internal committees and stakeholders to identify, assess, and onboard AP/AR vendors (e.g., Bill.com) that support healthy financial controls and transparency.
  • Work with internal team members and members of Senior Leadership to review and manage client credits, adjustments, and admin fee payments.
  • Review, make changes to, socialize, and implement new SOPs to strengthen financial controls.
  • Work with HR other individuals to appropriately identify, file, and document employment related state and federal filings.
  • Lead annual financial audit
  • Work with CFO and/or members from the SLT team to complete financial analyses and budgeting as needed.
  • Coach direct report(s) on tactical and behavioral expectations, including setting QIOs/KPIs and tracking performance.


What You'll Need to Have
  • Must have at 4-5 years of relevant accounting experience, which includes working as an integral part of or leading the month-end close process, preferably within the healthcare field.
  • Must have a B.S. or B.A. in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Must have an active CPA license in good stna.
  • Must have a working knowledge of, or be able to quickly learn, QuickBooks or similar system.
  • Be able to go into the Chicago office 2-3 days per week
  • Be able to use intermediate to advanced functions of Excel (pivot tables, nested formulas, etc.).
  • Strong people-management skills to improve the performance, development, and engagement of your team.
  • Ability to attend and professionally engage in video meetings with other employees, clients, and others.
  • Reliable power and secured internet that runs at 11 mbps or more.
  • A designated, private area to conduct work with minimal interruptions is required.
  • Strong technological skills, meaning you can effectively and efficiently use computers, peripheral equipment, and applications/systems, including Microsoft products.
  • Autonomous self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity and navigate change.
  • Creative mindset and ability to appropriately challenge the status quo.
  • Superb written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to overcome obstacles with a 'yes if...' approach.
  • Ability to effectively balance competing deadlines without losing focus on the bigger picture.
