About the Job

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and review the general ledger regularly to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting principles and procedures.
  • Prepare and analyze financial and statistical reports as required.
  • Coordinate and prepare for financial audits conducted by external auditors.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and coordinate the completion of various required reports.
  • Prepare and/or review required tax returns.
  • Recommend changes in financial policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Monitor and enforce internal controls to ensure proper compliance.
  • Assist with planning and implementing changes in the accounting system.
  • Manage and develop the accounting team, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of exempt-level experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge:

  • Advanced understanding of accounting and auditing principles and practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of governmental financial administration, including budgeting, reporting, taxation, and revenue.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements.


Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.


Abilities:

  • Examine and verify financial documents and reports with high attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of management.
  • Prepare a variety of complex financial statements, reports, and analyses.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate clerical and technical employees.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate leadership and decision-making capabilities.
