Accounting Manager

What: Manage the full accounting cycle, including AP, AR, payroll, job costing, project invoicing, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close using QuickBooks.

When: This is an immediate need with interviews taking place right away and a preference for someone who can start as soon as possible.

Where: Sandy Springs, GA.

Office Environment: This is a full-time, in-office opportunity within a small, collaborative professional services organization.

Salary: Target compensation is approximately $90,000 annually if the position converts to permanent employment.
Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager for an immediate contract opportunity with the potential to convert to a permanent position. This individual will serve as the primary accounting resource for the organization and manage the accounting function from day-to-day transactions through month-end close.

A significant portion of this role involves project accounting, job costing, and monthly invoicing for approximately 70-100 projects. The ideal candidate has experience in a project-driven professional services environment and is comfortable independently managing a broad range of accounting responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full accounting cycle using QuickBooks.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Process payroll for approximately 15-20 employees using QuickBooks assisted payroll.
  • Manage monthly billing for approximately 70-100 projects.
  • Gather and review project information to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
  • Maintain job costing and project accounting records.
  • Perform month-end close activities and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger and financial records.
  • Provide accounting and financial information to management as needed.
  • Handle limited HR and administrative responsibilities.
  • Maintain accounting continuity throughout the organization's transition.
Qualifications
  • Approximately 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong hands-on QuickBooks experience.
  • Experience with AP, AR, payroll, invoicing, general ledger accounting, and month-end close.
  • Strong job costing and project accounting experience.
  • Experience in architecture, engineering, construction, or a similar project-based professional services environment is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to independently manage the accounting function of a small organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable handling both transactional accounting and higher-level accounting responsibilities.
  • CPA is a plus but not required.
Employment Details

This position is expected to begin on a contract basis with the possibility of converting to permanent employment. If converted to permanent, anticipated benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and 15 days of paid vacation.
