Position Summary
The Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the financial health of our construction projects and company operations. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, tracking project costs, supporting month-end close, and delivering timely financial reporting.
This is an in-office role, working closely with project managers, estimators, and leadership to support real-time decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, job cost reports, and project performance data
- Maintain accurate accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and accruals
- Process subcontractor pay applications and ensure compliance with lien releases and billing deadlines
- Assist with cash flow projections, budget tracking, and financial forecasting
- Monitor financial activity for accuracy and compliance with company policies
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support project financial performance
- Prepare reports for bonding, audits, and banking requirements
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA or pursuit of CPA is a plus
Experience
- 5+ years of accounting experience required
- Construction accounting experience strongly preferred
- Experience with government contracts is a plus
- Familiarity with Viewpoint, Sage, or Trimble preferred
Skills and Competencies
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting principles
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
Work Environment
- This is a full-time, in-office position
- Minimal travel may be required for project audits or meetings
